READ FIRST: Clans?

Yes, Clans are back again, but before you jump right in and celebrate, there are some things you should be aware of.

Some of you might be thinking "what the heck are Clans?". Even if you aren't thinking that, you need to read this thread before doing anything in the Clan. This is your fair warning. This will (hopefully) explain to you what a Clan is, what the rules are, how Clans work, and anything else you might be wondering.

First things first, read Goku's thread on Clans, which you can find here. Nevermind the "Requirement for Founding a Clan" part, as that's been changed considerably. You don't necessarily need to read the next section called "Privileges of a Clan Leader", but as members of a Clan, you should be familiar with what your Clan Leader can and cannot do. The only real thing you need to get out of that thread is the second rule under "General Clan Rules".

2) In a Clan, all the regulations are set by the Clan Leader. If you break one of the rules, he may kick you out of the Clan, so think well before deciding to join a Clan.

Rules

Below is the current set of rules for Clans. They may be changed at anytime as an Admin/SMod sees fit, so be sure to check up on them once in a while (although, if they are changed, you will usually be notified of the changes). These are the rules you are to abide by whilst in your Clan. They are the general rules, meaning aside from these, a Clan Leader can make additional ones. If you break one or more of these rules, your consequence(s) will be left up to your Clan Leader or, in extreme cases, an Admin/SMod.

1. Board rules apply.
2. All other rules are left up to the Clan Leader.
3. What the Clan Leader says goes.
4. Do NOT give out the Clan's password without the Clan Leader's permission.

Those are standard rules, so they should not be too hard to abide by.

Guidelines

The following guidelines should tell you a bit more about Clans and how they work. Like the rules, they can be changed at any time by an Admin/SMod, so be on the lookout.

• If a Clan is inactive for X days / weeks, it will be removed without notice. There is a limited number for Clans, and if your Clan is just going to be taking up space, it'll be removed.
• To create a Clan, there must be at least six members.
• Admins and Super Mods can view the Clan but may not interfere unless things are out of control and the Clan Leader is either absent or incapable of doing his/her job.
• At least three members excluding the creator must agree to the group being made before it is done.

The first one is self-explanatory. If you're not doing anything with your Clan and it's just a waste of space, it will be removed. If your Clan is removed and you feel it was unjust or you want another shot at it, you will have to take it up with an Admin, but do not expect to have it given back to you immediately. It was removed for a reason.

To help keep the Clans active, there is a set minimum for the number of members one must have to create one. You cannot expect to have your own Clan if it's just you and another member. It doesn't work like that. Even if you two are active, more members are needed to create the Clan. It's as simple as that. This coincides with the last guideline as well. If you want to make your Clan but the members you wish to have in it aren't on the same level of understanding as you, you will need to figure this out before your Clan is made. Going in with members that already are at each other's throats will not help your Clan at all. If you and somebody else cannot agree on who will be the Clan Leader, it's best you don't make a Clan at all until you've figured it out.

Now for the third guideline, just because you can't see them doesn't mean Admins and SMods aren't looking in on what you're doing in your Clan. A Clan Leader is basically the Admin of his/her Clan. They say what goes, and if they see or find out about you disobeying the rules, they can do as they see fit. Just because they aren't Admins or SMods on the main forum doesn't mean they don't have just as much authority inside the Clan. If you have that mindset, you may as well not even request to be in a Clan.

As long as you stick to these, your Clan should be set to go.

General

Some of you may still be wondering what a Clan exactly is. Well, it's a suped-up Social Group on roids basically. It's easier to use and post in, is more manageable, is more user-friendly, is much more fun, and is less reliant on the main forum. Social Groups will still be here, so don't worry about losing any information you may have in them. Also, just because Clans are back does not mean you have to create or join one -- you can still stick with Social Groups if that's your preference, or even go with both.

After a Clan is made, you will have to request admittance in order to join one. A Clan Leader will then either approve or deny your request. If you were denied into a Clan, take it up with the Clan Leader in a PM before going to an Admin or SMod. Once you are approved, you will be added to the group's member list and you'll be able to see and post in the Clan forum. If you would like to have a graphic the same size and shape as a "Friend of MFG" graphic under your username, that is possible; otherwise, you can remain silent about being in a Clan.

The main point of a Clan is to have FUN, so don't take things too seriously. This is only the internet, after all. If you follow the rules and guidelines, you should be just fine. Just think well before deciding to join or create a Clan. Enjoy!
