The Japanese poster "Hiroshige Awa Naruto no Kazanami" is now available on cdJapan -- the first time I've seen it on any website in English. Although, I can't say I've looked too hard.
This painting is of the Naruto whirlpools in Japan -- the place Uzumaki Naruto gets his name from (Whirlpool in Japanese is Uzumaki). Many people think that Naruto gets his name from a certain kind of kamaboko called "Naruto", since eats/loves ramen so much. However, this kind of kamaboko is actually named after the Naruto whirlpools. I thought that one of the bridges that went over the Naruto straight* was called "The Great Naruto Bridge" (remember what Tazuna names the bridge from the first arc of Naruto). But after doing some research I couldn't find any information on this. Oh well, still a neat story even if it isn't true. *The Naruto whirlpools are part of the Naruto straight, in the city of Naruto, Japan. I first found out about this painting a few years ago, and to my surprise, only weeks later found a framed copy of it in our garage!!
