Suppose I'll chime on this little subject here as well.
I think affiliation could be both a good and a bad thing. The good thing would be increased traffic to the site and hopefully to the forum. However the bad part far outweighs it. I believe if we did this then the sites that we affiliate with, more than likely have a stronger forum than us at the moment, would sap our members away, both new and old. Slowly but surely we would die out. That's my opinion at least. But if they don't have a forum then by all means go for it, that would have absolutely no ill effect on us forum goers at all. As far as a name change is concerned, I understand Vivi's point completely. People know this place as mfg and a lot would probably stop coming entirely for lack of being able to find it. But if we had a site redirect it would definitely work, but again, as stated by Vivi, the founders would have to pay for both. I'm not sure if they would like to do that, and it would be a lot of work in the first place. Perhaps they should consider delegating some tasks for site work. I know I can't do it for lack of time and know-how, but there are those out there capable of doing it. Trustworthy people no-doubt. MFG has to change or it will die, that's just a fact of life, if you don't keep up with the times then we'll stagnate and be dead in the water. No one wants that, well most of us don't want that at least. Also, I haven't seen an admin or founder on for quite sometime. If either comes on and sees this then please return me my mod spot, I've sent pm's to Superior and though he says it isn't a problem, it just seems to be a matter of getting to it. So ya, just get back to me through pm if anyone with the power to do so sees this. Thanks! Any other ideas on what we can do? This seems like a pretty productive topic so far, so keep the ideas flowing...

I wanted to let everyone know that, even though I haven't posted in this topic since it was created, that I come here daily and read all the idea's people have posted. So far, you guys have given me some great ideas, and I'm looking forward to hearing more in the next week ahead.
Remember, next Sunday, June 24th, 2007 this topic will be shut down, and I'll take all the idea's to the Staff team so we can all give out inputs on what we think would be good and what wouldn't. Keep on posting...

I'm not 100% sure that a name change would be the best way to go, I mean sure we would most likely gain quite a few new people, but I am guessing that we would loose just as many if not more. And ontop of all of that, this is MFmotherfuckinG. I think it would suck to change the name. I think what we really really need is to find a way to bring back old members. Old good members. I've been back one day and ive already covered most of the top topics in the DBZ section (not saying i was an old good member, just stating a fact). The problem is no one is replying to what i say. If we could get some oldies back to start some actual good topics then i think the newer guys would follow along with it.

If we do indeed take in a forumless site, there might be issues about whether there will be name changes... but we are now mfgforums... not really myfavouritegames anymore.

I don't think it would be too much of a problem, but I do see where you're coming from. That is of course, if the founders allow it and take the time to make the link ups possible. I mean it wouldn't specifically be their forum but they would link to us, we would likely allow them to have their own forum or at least have some sort of say in what happens around here, I mean that would only be fair. I don't know honestly...

Ghost Rider hit the nail on the head. I've noticed people viewing
topics, yet they never reply to them. Obviously you can sometimes read a topic that you know nothing about. But it seems people just don't want to reply. Whenever I can adequately reply to something, I do. Simple as that. We need to figure out how to get people to start replying. (Not just attracting members) MFG usually gets like 4-8 members in 24 hour period (Judging from the thing at the bottom of the screen). So we should start worrying about our current members.

Lots of good and interesting ideas.
Sorry I've been away for a while (again). We bought the upgrade to CS 2007 -- I'm planning to do the upgrade sometime soon. There has been a lot happening behind the scenes over the last few months.... For those who may not remember, the old phpBB / invision forum domain name was anime.myfavoritegames.com -- that solves the problems of having "anime" in the name, while still keeping the association with the main website. Plus, it doesn't cost anything extra. We decided to get a new name when we switched to CS, mostly because we wanted something easier to type. We could go back to the old name, and keep mfgforums.com as a redirect, I guess.... Regarding episodes -- sorry, no. The agreement with the copyright holders that we're operating under won't allow us to do that. All audio or video clips have to be less than 60 seconds long. So many other site have to eps, why should we risk getting a Cease & Desist letter that might force us to shut the whole thing down... I love the idea of other sites linking to us, and of inviting sites that have dead or almost-dead forums to partner-up. Does anyone think it might generate any interest / excitement among the users if some of the old posts from the Invision days could be recovered? No promises, but something might be possible there if there was enough interest. |

Im sure there is plenty of interest in being able to recover some of the old invision posts. Specially gfx and fan-fic wise.
Ace, what do you think about the whole 'being a forum for another site' idea? The site that was mentioned is a manga download site. |

I have gone through and taken down all the idea's that have been mentioned. I'd like to thank everyone for their input and well thought out idea's. Please allow us Staffers ample time to go through and see what we can and cannot do. But keep checking back for updates!
