I don't know if they have a forum or not, but if they do then it would be a waste. I say we should only affiliate with sites that have no forums at all, or dead forums. Then we can absorb their members, and they can get our members onto their forums.

If that makes sense...

Combine with other forums.

For example, The Atari Community Forums merged with WePlayHere Forums. WePlayHere now has its on Forum in Atari Community, all the members got transfrered over.

You guys should seek out forums on the brink of deadness, that still have an owner, and talk to them. =O

I can confirm they don't have forums, I've looked before. Plus, a site like that gets a lot of hits daily.
Something does need to be done about the RPG section too. The DBZ one needs to atleast be restarted so new members don't feel so weak when they join. I don't know about redone, I've always liked the way it was.
Also I'm not so sure merging with another forum, albeit a dieing one, would be such a good idea. I'd be nice to have some more experianced forum members but then there would be the whole 'Who keeps their staff position' thing. Plus to the members at the deing forums it would sort of be like starting over again, going to a new place where you have less respect and don't really know the staff.

I'm against the merger, but the offering a forum base for a site is a good idea. They would get many hits, simply from being a download site, and also it would increase our activity in at least the anime and most likely fan-fic section.

The only glitch I see is that, again, the rules are against downloads... though seeing as we arn't offering the downloads, I believe that we could possibly make this work.

Yeah,
Amero says they don't have a forum, and as Engel said, simply because
they have DLs we'd get hits. If mangavolume doesn't work out, there are
tons of other anime/manga places we could try. The only thing we would
have to look out for is a lot of spamming noobs and/or hackers. The
Mod/Admin system would have to be bumped up to allow protection.

Well a main reason a move here was good was also because it is apparently harder to hack than say a forum in ipb or vbulletin or whatever...

Besides, we've dealt with simple spam before. The only thing that would be of problem would be that we couldnt suspend members as moderators, which means we might have to add another admin or something to guarentee that we would have somebody available at pretty much most (if not near all) the time. But that's only if we reach some high peak of member base and activity like in the past.

Do you have any specifics? Afffiliation is okay, the only problem with
that is I'm not sure if people would click on an affiliation link that
says "myfavoritegames" the people that usually come to places like
"mangavolume" want something based around their favorite mangas or
animes. But my point is the name MFG doesn't spell out anime/manga.

We could change "myfavoritegames" to "myfavoriteanime" or something.
As far as affiliates, so many sites became huge and stay huge by having affiliates. We have the advantage of having the content, affiliation is the best way to get more clicks and more of a target audience. I could find plenty of huge anime/manga sites to affiliate with, nothing wrong with affiliating. Especially since it seems traffic is harder to get for us these days. There are three huge Naruto sites on the front page of google so affiliating would be nice. I definitely think we'd be accepted. I've looked at the extremetracker I suggested mfg get a while back. People definitely click those links on huge sites with good information and attractive layouts. I can't believe I didn't think of that before, I wonder why we don't. Unless we're getting seen already a lot and we update every week with good information then we'd be at a disadvantage already against other big sites.
Besides that new skins and features (moderator) would be nice.

anyways, affiliation is a good idea, there isn't any harm too it and we
get free members.

Another thing that attracts a lot of people is a good graphics section.
We need to get the time problem fixed, it looks like no one has replied
since last year. (Read "Gltiches?")

Having a domain name relevant to content is the way to go buddy. IF you search anime in google, the domain www.anime.com comes up first. It's extremely important as I found out by doing certain changes. A name change wasn't necessary when we were more active, it might be now to give us a edge against the competition and competition we do have. Changing the name to something relevant would do nothing but make the site rank better. Type our domain in and you'll see how important it is, people wouldn't know an anime site if it had a game name in the domain in the first place.

I actually do agree with a name change, hell they should've changed it when this became a DBZ site.
Buuuuuut, the problem with that is: This site has been around for what? 4 or 5 years now? People know MFG, if they need to look something Dragonball related up, they search MFG. Plus there would have to be some major editing to the site. I do not know of your admin ways, but I belive neither Superior nor Goku have that sort of power.
*climbs to the highest MFG peak* ...And I don't see any board founders who are going to want to work that hard.

This july will be my I think 3rd year to be here. >_>; Personally
too many people use MFG as a reference (Wikipedia has used MFG for some
articles) and to find pictures. I think changing the name would cause
people to be unable to find us. I think someone needs to give Superior
or Goku some higher powers so they can get things done around here.

Hmm...well, how about this, why don't we just make a link that redirect's people to the "new MFG" instead. Like, say they typed in www.myfavoritegames.com, and then when they got to the page it would say something like "MFG has changed name's, to go to this site please click here" or something. Wouldn't that fix the problem of people not being able to find us?
