Yesterday I got around to opening up my Dr. Slump DVD box (N`CHA EDITION), which came in the mail a few days ago. I took pictures as I went, which I'll put in the gallery soon. Apart from screenshots, feel free to post requests for stuff you'd like to see from this release, or even the series in general.



We have an improved image section already in the works, with stuff like image cels, manga scans, and fan art. More on that later -- bye`cha!

Wow, I didn't even know Dr. Slump was out on DVD. I take it these are the Japanese version(s) though?

Yeah, these are Japanese DVDs that released back on 3/23/2007.

It's basically a Dragon Box, but for the Dr. Slump anime series -- completely remastered by TOEI/Pony Canyon. This is part 1 of a 2-part set release.

I think Sharky got it shipped from Japan. They don't make them in the US, there's not even an English Dub for it. I've seen the new eps on YouTube however, and I must say they aren't better then the original anime of Dr Slump that was made in the 80's. The story has annoying alterations and stuff.

Hey! How much did you get that DVD set for??? I found it on Amazon Japan and it's 73500 Yen ... which is around $600 Canadian :S
Do you know if I can get it anywhere for a cheaper price???

They don't make the DVDs anymore though, so most of the stores that sold it are out of stock (as is Amazon Japan).

The only store I know of that still has them in stock is CDJapan.co.jp. They ship internationally, so you can still get an unopened copy from them.

Yeah the retail price for the set is 100000 yen, so 73500 isn't really a bad price (for a new copy). If you want it cheaper you're best bet is to find someone selling it used/opened.

You can find just about anything on Yahoo Auctions Japan, but it's almost impossible to use if you don't know Japanese or have a mailing address in Japan. I can't think of anywhere else. Maybe.....maybe...eBay would have it.

Another option would be to get a Chinese bootleg version of the same set. Sure the quality wouldn't be as nice, nor would the packaging, but it is cheaper. I don't know where you could find these, possibly yesasia.com.

Or you could wait a while. TOEI will probably re-release the episodes onto individual volumes. That way you could just get like 1 or 2 volumes rather than a whole set.
