Default DragonBall Z Season One Inquiries

This article is strait from FUNimation themselves.
------------------------------------
Wow, what a tremendous response! It's great to see this much passion and enthusiasm from all of the Dragon Ball Z fans. There does seem to be some confusion out there, which has resulted in rumors, speculation and disarray. So, lets take a look and see what I can do.

First, I would like to address the issue that seems to have caused the greatest concern: WIDESCREEN. Many seem to believe that this process will result in a loss of image/content. What you will actually be getting with the digitally remastered and restored DBZ episodes is more of the viewable film that was not used for traditional 4:3 TV version.

I've seen the original DVD video and compared to the digitally remastered footage and you can see the difference! The footage was digitally transferred from the original Japanese film footage, the new transfer will actually allow for more of the original footage to be seen on screen.

Those who were able to attend Wizard World Texas were able to see first hand the care and concern FUNimation has taken in the re-mastering process. The response was overwhelming. This has been a very intense project. We have invested a lot of time and resources into this, both as a company and as fans of this great series. Rest assured, we have listened to your feedback and input. The February 2007 release of Dragon Ball Z Season One The Vegeta Saga (all 39 episodes for $49.98) is going to be great!

------------------------------------Now, whatever this really means still is yet to be seen because there are still speculations on whether or not we're losing footage since the switch to Widescreen. So, we'll be bringing you more details as they become available.

What I am hopeing for is that they have an option where you can view the fullscreen footage and widescreen footage.

I doubt that will be the case. Still this gives me hope that there
won't be any lost content using a widescreen format. The again I could
be pessimistic and cynical and say that what was said in this news
release could be wrong....[^o)]

True, but DBZ was never widescreen which worries me about this new release. What im thinking is that FUNimation is cropping the footage, which can lead to some issues.
Widescreen is better then Full Screen.
No since its makes the vidoe smaller which pisses me off. Plus DBZ was made in FULL SCREEN meaning we are losing the picture being bigger for NOTHING.

Why did FUNimation ever think of doing DBZ in Widescreen? Doesn't make any sence.

I wonder if Dragonball will be redone like this too seeing how Dragonball was at the same level as DBZ.

They made it wide-screen becasue it looks more professional in quality and aslo stfu about size..who cares..you get more action in wide-screen its HD..I think...It will pwn and you guys shouldn't dwell on it being wide-screen. so I don't care what mose its in..it will rock regardless.

Now whether they are making it in Wide-Screen to look more professional or not in quality is left up to each person individually. So there is no reason to be telling people to "shut the fuck up" about its size. Many people care because DragonBall Z is more then just a show to them, which means if they want to complain then by all means complain. Afterall the comparison shots I've saw have almost tempted me to not even start collecting these Season Sets at all, and just finish getting all the Box Sets. Seeing as I'm only 4 or 5 out of owning all of DragonBall Z in Full-Screen format.
Anyway, now that I've mentioned comparison shots, here are some for you guys to dwindle on:
FUNimation DragonBall Z DVD's

Re-Mastered FUNimation Season Set

As you can see, we do infact get more footage on the left and right hand side, but we also lose footage from the top and bottom. That is all...

Didn't mean to come across mean but what I mean is if you really are a die hard fan..size of the screen shouldn't matter as much as the show itself. In full-screen the guy still gets killed..in wide-screen.the guy still gets killed either way it is up to the user but I'm sure they'll put an option in the menu for wide or full screen viewing options.

People don't seem to understand this but in reality the Widescreen form actually shows alot more then Fullscreen, masybe it won't work so well for DBZ but you never know because with Full Screen you in fact do have more footage shown with the Widescreen adaption. But we will know more with the fininshed products release.

One question for me on these awesome Re-Masters... Will the Regional Code settings be Region 1, 2 and 4 just like the others!?

Everything about this dvd is excellent.
But!!!!
WHY DID THEY NOT MAKE A 5.1 SURROUND SOUND WITH AMERICAN MUSIC!!!!!!!! I might return it just because of this one flaw.
now that is the only bad thing about the dvd(not to mention no realism by adding in swears instead of "im going to destroy you" it should be "Im going to f***ing kill you")
