According to ANN, TV Asahi has published a list of Japan's 100 favorite animated TV series (much like last years). The list is based on an online poll of the Japanese populace. During Monday's Variety Programming, TV Asahi also presented a list based on a survey of 100 Japanese celebrities. Below are fragments of the list which included Dragonball's ranking:

Dragonball ranked quite well considering it's age. However, it dropped a considerable amount from last year's ranking of #3.

I think DB's doing pretty good since its so old but I think DB had some of the best fighting ever (even better than Z and Naruto)

It beat naruto....but not bleach....well ill give it that for current popularity, but overall, I still beleive dragonball to be the best.

Its hard ot say I Love Bleach and DB both are great Manga's but I hate how they made the DB anime into a kids show in the US.

Well, that's how it started it out, but it did change evetually....with the release of the uncuts, and the upcoming enchanced box sets.

from the DVD's I have seen its still not as Bloody, uses words like Bastard, damn and any perverted words like Panties, Boobs or anything like that.
Plus even the so called unut fortune teller baba saga has a scene that is is cut down becuase Bulma shows here boobs. And in America you wont be able to get the Uncut first saga in a while if ever.

Basically a list of which animes they should try to license.....

Yep, it's things like this that they base their choices on. they see what's popular and give it a try.
Unfortunately for them, some people would have already started watching the subs....and most of the time dubs can't compare to the subs. (Im saiying this even though i prefer DBZ dubbed), Naruto for example...it's just impossible for me to watch the DUBs...

Naruto's dubs ok I can watch it.
But what about the Bleach Dub? I like it better than the sub (I know most people dont)
But I really cant get into animes until I see the dub I like to understand what they are saying with out having to read each word.

How the hell is One Piece so low? It's one of the greatest anime ever made, in my opinion. *sigh*
You know, there was a top 100 cartoons on an English programme (channel 4). The highest anime on that was princess mononoke. I think it was No.5 or something.

Yeah and Neon Genesis Evangelion is #2?
Im glad to see people like Case Closed in Jap that means more episodes.
But I dont see how Yu Yu Haksho is beating Once Piece seening how the last 2 seasons of Yu Yu sucked.

Yu Yu is an awsome anime, from what ive seen of one piece, its good but the ghost files kick it's ass
