JerrodDRagon has just sent me some very interesting news: (UPDATE: we now have confirmation that) Madman will be releasing a new DVD box set called the "DragonBall Complete Collection Part 1". This DVD set will contain the first 6 sagas of the original Dragonball series -- uncut, and dubbed in English. This new box set is scheduled to hit stores October 11th of this year.
Yes, finally Dragonball season one will be released on DVD! But to get it you will have to buy the whole box set. The box set is 12 discs which have the first 6 sagas from Dragonball. There’s over 2000, (yes 2000) minutes of video on these DVD's -- but that’s not all you get. Also included in the box set are: - TV Spots - Character Profiles - Bonus Full Length Feature "Curse of the Blood Rubies" When you really get down to it, the only bad thing about these DVDs is the price; Which from JerrodDRagon's observations, can range from $76-100 (but for 83 episodes it may be worth it). You can order your copy here.

Hmmmm, this is interesting news indeed. 83 episodes, so all the way through the Baba Saga. Now let me ask....was ALL of the 83 episodes re-dubbed, or just the first 13?

Just the first 13.
But the re-dubbed episodes have been shown on TV and everything. So it's not really a new re-dub (just new to DVD / uncut)

Ok I am a little confused. You stated that the release date for this dvd set is October 11th. Since when do dvd's release on a wednesday? So me being curious and a avid dragonball collector, I contacted a funimation representive. I was very upset to hear that the representitive had no knowledge of this release. Which could mean several things. Funimation may have redubbed the first 13 episodes without acquiring the rights from trimark. Or less likely its some sort of suprise release. Could someone find out more information on this release???

Well its been over 10 hours and no one has responded. I have recontacted my inside source from funimation, She has ashored me that she is unaware of this release . Although she said that the Dragonball Z Movie 1-3 box is supposed to be a surprise release, (meaning funimation has contacted no second party about this release) yet it is a well known release. Hopefully she doesn't know about this, and it will still be released. IF ANYONE HAS ANYMORE INFO ON THIS DRAGONBALL COMPLETE PART 1 DVD SET PLEASE RESPOND???

Here's the pre-order link, and my confirmation saying that this is an official release:
http://www.madman.com.au/actions/cat...webChannelId=1 As I hinted at in the post, it's likely (and now confirmed) that this isn't a DVD that will be released in the US. From the news I had been sent, it said FUNimation would be releasing the DVDs, but that is incorrect (and which is why I said "apparently", not definetly to be released by FUNimation) It's not going to be a DVD released by FUNimation.

This is a Funimation release! All official Austalian Dragonball dvd's are produced by Funimation and marketed by Madman. (which is kinda stupid if you ask me because all the original releases are Region 1,2, & 4) Well im glad that we got that cleared up. JUST A REMINDER TO EVERYONE THIS IS A REGION 4 DVD SET(PLAYABLE WITH A REGION 4 OR MULTIZONE DVD PLAYER only)-sux

He is correct. I know very well how madman works, and if they are releasing this, funimation will be doing it before them. Madman entertainment get's all their Dragonball Material directly from funimation.
