The Rightstuf has just made a post on their website regarding the upcoming "Dragonball Z: Season 1" DVD box set. They posted the following statement from FUNimation:
"We will re-announce this title with a new release date in Quarter 1 2007, and there will be other major announcements concerning the property at that time. These season sets are being enhanced and restored, and many new features are being added. Runtimes and packaging will also be different." Seeing as the current DVDs are already "enhanced and restored", saying the season box sets will be even more so, makes it seem they've gotten the rights to use the Dragon Box DVD masters. I'll get in contact with FUNimation and see if they have any more information on the DVD sets.

No confirmation yet on whether it actually is the Dragon Box footage or not, but quite a few are speculating. They could, and that is a very big could, have the Dragon Box footage, or they could be re-mastering their footage, have gotten a hold of <st1:country-region><st1:place>Spain</st1:place></st1:country-region>'s re-mastered footage, or any other thing like that. Only way to find out will be to keep those ear's opened for further announcements.
I, for one, won't be getting my hopes too high, for they have been crushed on several occasion's by FUNimation, and I don't want this to be one more they add to my crush list.
