In response to user feedback, I'm happy to announce several important policy changes for the MFG Forums:

Double posting is an obvious rule that shouldn't have to be up there. But I guess we'll see how it goes without it up there.
As far as I knew, as long as we weren't posting links to other forums or hentai/etc, it should be alright if asked for. |

It seems that you decided to head towards the third option. ^_^
I sort of enjoy the "friendly flaming" thing, since we're now allowed to poke fun at each other. I can't wait to see what people have to really say about me. =| Seriously, though, I think it's a good thing that it was included. I don't enjoy the lifting of the double-post rule, but I suppose that there are times where it could be more helpful than editing a post. I know that it's hard to precisely define things sometimes, but could you give an example of "moderate spamming"? Otherwise, this looks good. I'm sure that this change will make MFG a little bit better.

Yes, within reason. The goal here is not to encourage double-posting. Rather, I'm trying to acknowledge the fact that sometimes you have something more to say in a thread, even though you were the last one to post in it. Rather than requiring you to edit your last post, it's OK to just post again.
Posting links that are informative and helpful for other users is acceptable. If the links are really just advertising another site, then they're strongly discouraged, as it says in the rules. |

Great Job Ace! I see this is slowly heading in the direction of Democracy. Afterall, the Greek words broken down mean "power to the people". I actually dreamed of making this place more democratic and look! You lot made the best decision alone. Count on me to uphold justice: There are plenty of nasty people waiting to take advantage. When that happens...well, it won't ; D
Because this is a good decision and I'll rape anyone who argues. ![]()

Zer0 has a good point with the full manga scan/anime episode thing. Sometimes they can be helpful in the anime/manga debates and such.

My only qualm is this:
Double-posting should be allowed only under specific circumstances. That is, you can only double post if the most recent post in the thread is at least 1 day old. That will allow members to bump topics when they want to draw attention (because editting wouldn't bump the thread), but will prevent idiots from double-posting whenever they feel like. Also, double posting should be allowed by the authors of a fanfic when they want to update, and on some other specific instances such as your RPG character sheet, where you can post a stamina sheet etc. But that sort of thing was done even when we had the no-double-posting rule, so I guess it's fine.

How about a "Scans or it didn't happen" rule in debates that go over 3 pages??? Just wondering.

If no scans are requested by any party, I don't think that they really need to be there unless a party just wants to use one. I don't know about the DB/Z/GT/AU Sections, but in Naruto and Bleach, members are usually pretty courteous about providing scans when requested, especially if they want their argument to be validated. I think that if it isn't broke, don't fix it.

The DB/Z/GT mods are going to probably think about this, but you do have a point "If it ain't broke don't fix it" XD.

To be fair, they actually aren't needed in the Dragonball section as much as they are in the other mentioned sections. Dragonball has been released in a variety of languages, completely released here in North America by Viz, AKA an official English translation (and this being an English message board) for as low as $6.95 out of a book store or far lower prices from places like Amazon.com. I'm not saying it's required that you buy the volumes, but just mentioning that it is quite easy to get a hold of the official translations for a cheap price if one really wanted to.
This certainly isn't like the case with Naruto, where a new chapter is released every week thus making fan translations from well-known sites the "official" translations for that time. And while I'm speaking on fan translations. Naruto has very accurate translations. It's translators go from Japanese to English. All of the old Dranet translations (which I believe are simply on other sites now, but the same old material) went from Japanese to Spanish to English thus losing some, if not a lot of the original dialog. I can think of quite a few instances where this happened. (And their horrible quality along with being backwards annoyed me to no end.) Oh, ANB, your signature stretches my page. I don't know if it's outside the allowed space, but could you reduce the size? Last edited by Tyro; 12-30-2007 at 06:44 PM. |
