Pyro, we want to make the RPG so more people do join. Not just so the few that are there now are happy. Don't get me wrong, the ideal thing we want is for everyone to be happy, but if we make an RPG complicated, not many others will even want to join it.

People don't join an inactive RPG. If we switched to Naruto now and lost more members in the RPG, then it would end killing the RPG. However, if we were to switch it to a multi-theme and bring in numerous members while keeping the members we already have, we could hold another poll after about a month to see what people say then. If multiple people liked the idea and there would be a large amount of activity, I wouldn't have a problem with it being one theme, but as for now, the RPG can't handle only one theme.

Yes, that's what I'm saying. Island's job is to solicit member input, combine that with what in his judgement is achievable, then make a decision and move forward. There has obviously been a lot of interest in a multi-themed approach -- but the vote is still showing about half are OK with a DBZ-based theme. Unfortunately, we can't make everyone happy all of the time.

The original purpose of this thread was for members to choose between one of two single-themed RPGs.

One suggestion I have is that maybe it would make sense to get RPG staffing figured out before picking a theme. If Island doesn't have to do everything himself, it might open up additional options.

A Naruto RPG would require a total reworking of the system, and it'd be by far the most complex attempt at building the RPG MFG has ever seen. The complexity of it, upon completion, might also turn away potential members, since it is a far more..."complex", for lack of a more appropriate term...series.

The DBZ RPG as it is right now is FAR beyond "stale". It's the same old thing, every era: Gosan, Goshin, and the fifty other "Sons", along with Brutus, have some sweaty man-brawls and spam generic attacks like crazy, while Android 16 sighs every fifteen seconds and does NOTHING, with whatever characters me and Pyro are using godmodding all things holy and probably seriously working everyone else's nerves. I'm sick of Goku's whacked-out, comically-Hispanic family tree, I'm sick of the cookie-cutter energy attacks, and quite frankly, I'm sick of THE SAME DAMNED THING.

As you can see, this "either/or" business will leave me wanting either way. The only thing I'm backing at this point is a generalizing of the current RPG to stop revolving around DBZ, or at least, to have other elements included. To summarize, the DBZ RPG definitely needs to change, but turning it into a Naruto RPG is a task beyond our capacity (lolz) and would probably detract from activity.

If activity is really what you want, make the RPG for all anime, and if you really want to, keep some strong DBZ overtones, such as the setting and the list of races.

As for the vote, earlier posts would show that some people voted for what they thought would be the best choice, but also mentioned they would like to see a multi-theme more.

If you want a staff, then it'd probably be a good idea to have a nomination for the staff in the RPG area. That way the RPers could choose who they would like to see as a RPG mod rather than allow previous mods and Island to choose from the lot. Then, if we get more than three or four, we can put those people up to vote by all the members and regular staff.

I'm very much against open nominations for Staff, and Ace would probably agree.


However, I have made a decision, and it will be finalized once I hear the thoughts of the general Staff. You'll probably like it, as I based it around many of your ideas, or at least the ones I thought were decent. If all goes as I want, you should be getting a DB/Z/GT & Naruto-themed, together in one. You should be getting all new & original settings, with a new cast of NPCs, and most importantly, something that involves more than stopping the destruction of the universe. In addition, if everything works out, members will be able to help and test ideas in the now-open Beta Testing. I'll have further details when I hear from more Staff members. (Ace, if you read this before checking that topic, this would be your hinto to go there. Dramatic'd/10.)

May I ask why, or should I create another topic asking the members for open nominations for the RPG staff in order to keep this thread on subject?

So basically, after the poll is 6 to 5, you combine the DBZ RPG which has become dull and the Naruto RPG which is too complex while knowing that the members want a multi-theme anime meaning more than two? Sounds smart. You got a damn good judgement.

I'll wait for Ace to answer this one. It isn't my call to judge, and my original statement was based upon observations on how Ace runs things, and how he likes it done. However, we of the Staff, will further discuss a new RPG Team, and will get together a functional RPG. That much is promised, but that won't mean we won't seek the support of the general population. Therefore meaning, once the planning is finalized, you will be able to help.


Watch your sarcasm. However, as Ace & Superior stated, a Multi-Series won't fly. It's possible, and it might be able to be included in the system, but even then, I question how it'd work. Unless you want a character with absolutely no plot involvement, with almost no relevence, I'd suggest you'd keep with one of the two. It's possible, yes, but I know members will complain when their Non-DB/Z/GT / Naruto characters aren't focused on enough. If we, the Staff & Members can come up with a system where it would work, I might let it go to some extent. (To some extent being, no completely unheard of series, or no Mechas, Excessively large monsters, etc.)

Or Sonic. Definitely no Sonic. ;P



Like I said, the system is flexible, and it is getting good support from the Staff.

I'll present my ideas with you all soon, and then we might be able to work something out.

Minion, so you plan on choosing RPG mods based on a staff team that has almost no one in the actual RPG instead of going to people that RP to choose?

As I said, old habits die hard. ^_^ Ace said that a multi-theme could work if there were more RPG mods. I'll be sure that more staff are brought up too. ^_^

I agree that some things in a multi-theme shouldn't be allowed like huge ass machines and such things, but allowing more rather than putting limits on a person's creativity can lower the increase in members. As for complaints, more mods will be able to handle more themes.

Drop the subject of Staff nominations. They're not your call. They're not my call. As I explained before, they're the Administration's decisions, and theirs alone. If you want to get into a discussion about it, don't bring it up here. As a matter of fact, don't even bring it up on the open board. This is way out of both of our leagues, and you can't seem to accept that. Therefore, just drop it, and bring it up with one of the Administrator's elsewhere.



Cut the crap. You're baiting me on with technicalities, and it's honestly getting annoying. Even Nikushimi suggested you to stop with it. Now however, I'm telling you. Rather than hand out an Infraction, I'll say this once: Do not, and I repeat, do not, post here unless you have something reasonable to reply with. Your sarcasm and technicalities are enough, and quite frankly, I should probably give you an Infraction. However, as I said, this'll only be a warning. Enough is enough. If you want to discuss this further, take it to PMs. (Not IMs: PMs.)


At any rate, I'm getting good feedback from everyone I've shared the rough basis with. It's not much, but it's a start. When I hear from a few more Staff members, I'll post it here. If anyone honestly objects to more than one series in a RPG, speak now or forever hold your peace.

Let me just re iterate something here Island. You run the RPG in effect you are the RPG administrator so whatever you feel right to do beyond reasonable doubt we will do and support you. If you want open elections then hold them if not then don't. The choice of staff is yours unless we object.

All the choices are yours and I actually want to carry on the staff discussion with you in private.

Anyways, why should you post in in the staff section only instead of bringing it out to the public so they can see why you wanted to go with a double theme? If it's out in the public, both the staff and regular members can talk about it at the same time instead of goin' through a single person.

There is no "will" at this point. Even if Island throws caution to the wind and drops his pants for you and everyone else, there's no guarantee the RPG will be a success. The simple fact that we're deviating from the current system alone opens the good possibility that we might totally end up butchering the entire RPG and turning off more people than we attract. It's not as simple as "just change it".
