Concerning the banner contest, have any of you visited animemusicvideos.org? They have a banner system that chooses randomly from a fold full of member-made banners for each refresh of a page. It would probably generate more banner creation from people since they would know that their banner would get used, provided it passed a quality and content check. Perhaps for each subforum, a different folder of banners could be used, resulting in Naruto banners in Naruto, Bleach banners in Bleach, random anime characters for the Other Anime & Manga, etc. Good idea, bad idea, or even possible to code into vBulletin?

I see the appeal, and although it could be made to work in vBulletin, at least for the moment I would prefer to set up a consistent look and feel for the forum -- for each skin anyway. Eventually I do think it would be cool to have a Naruto skin, DBZ skin, etc, which could have different banners.

Jonny America, I'll probably be in charge of the Name Changing stuff, since I generally do that. So I'll be able to change your name for you. Goku and I talked about what we would do for name changing and we figured we'd offer once a year name changes. Generally towards the end of the year, so this will work out perfectly with the plan we have laid out. =)

I’m not quite sure I follow you. When (if) our previous accounts are merged with out original ones, we automatically switch back to our old names before the move to version 4.0? But it can all be fixed practically as soon as the move is finished by Superior fixing our names back to what we have them as now? I just wanted to make sure everything with the names and post count will work out because…I’m not actually too proud of my old username.

There are two different issues here.

First, if you currently have more than one account (login), each of which has posts associated with it, and therefore also post count, then once the migration to vB is done, it will be possible to merge those accounts together into a single account. The resulting post count will be the sum of the counts in all of the merged accounts. The surviving user name can be whichever one of the current / old names you prefer. This change will also be seen by people browsing the forum -- your old posts will appear under the new / merged name.

Second is name changes. vB doesn't support display names. The name that other people see will start out being the same name that you currently use to login to CS. Superior (and other admins, as needed) will work to process name change requests after the move is done. However, since it requires an admin's time, and since some people find name changes confusing, you will only be allowed to change your name about once per year after the initial one.

Dunno. The counts have been re-calculated a couple of times since the move from IPB, so they probably won't match what you remember. You can try searching for your old user names (which would have a dot in front of them, like ".GraffitiArtist"), and look in their profiles for post counts. We will need those names for the merge process too.
