You have probably noticed the "Popular Tags" sidebar on the right side of the forum. What are tags?

Tags are a way of organizing or filing posts that's in addition to the fixed Forum / Section / Category / Thread scheme. For example, if you write a post in the Dragonball AF section that's also funny, you could add a "Humor" tag.

When you start to type a tag, the system looks to see if any tags have been used before that are similar. If one is found, the tags box gets pre-filled. You can either accept the similar tag by hitting tab, or continue typing to either see additional options, or to enter a new tag. Or use the "Select Tags" button to see a list of your previously-used tags.

You can also enter multiple tags, by separating them with a comma.

What happens after you've attached a tag to a post? If enough posts are entered with the same tag, that tag will start to appear in the Popular Tags sidebar. The larger the size of the font that the tag name appears in, the more posts are attached to that tag.

The cool part is that you can then click on a tag to see a list of all posts that used it. Think of it like a different kind of search.

If you have the right permissions, you can also edit tags. Just click on the "edit tags" link on your post.
