I disagree with the Naruto, Bleach and such crossover rankings. I think we need something entirely new and original.
Edit: Couldn't help notice, but my rank is now Moderator. Mistake or purposely?

JAIF, the rankings are based on the amount of posts one have. The reason we didn't specify how many posts one needs to get to a new rank is so we can avoid people just post whoring/spamming to try and get up to the next level. We understand that will still happen without us specifiying, but we are hoping it will happen less frequently. It will be the name of the ranks changing, not the amount of posts one needs to upgrade a rank.
Jammy, we are coming up with a ranking system that we hope never gets outdated. So, what that means is it will, more then likely, NOT be based on any Anime at all. Also, about that Moderator ranking, I have PMed you now about it.

I'd actually think that having actual rankings would encourage more post whoring, but whatever, I don't care if we try it, because post whores have their posts deleted either way. It's useless for that purpose imo, I don't have any reason not to try it out anyways. Whatever. =/

Well, what we are hoping is that by people not being able to see post count is that they will think before they post. I mean, one post isn't going to change a rank, unless they are right next to the number where their rank would change. So basically, everytime they post, things will not change for a better period of time. In which case, we hope leads spammers/post whorers/ect. away.

I know. My concern is simply that they know very well that "one post" isn't going to change a rank, which just offers them an entirely new and different reason to whore posts. It wouldn't really be different either way, so I myself could actually kind of (for lack of a better phrase) care less what happens with this, as long as bad posts continue to get deleted and bad posters continue to be reprimanded.

Ranks go by posts not by points. For example if you post 500 times in the text game section you will have a post count of 500 and the rank for 500 but have no points because you receive no points for those posts. If you post 200 posts and someone replies to all of them you will have 800 points and the rank for 200 posts.

This system isnt actually a whole lot different then that of MFG3, where we had both Rank and Post Count. The main difference is that we cannot display both using the new format of the forums.
Forced with a dicision of which on to use, The ranking system is in my own opinion, more interesting then having post counts. I know I don't even look at post counts any more, its just a number based on how much a member posts. A ranking is, in the very least, a little more interesting then a number.

I'm not sure if this is considered off-topic or not, and I feel kind of embarassed about asking this, but what are the little green bars under one's username? Those nine bars. What do they represent because after all my time here, I still don't know. >_>
By the way, I like the ranking system, even though it's only temporary. ^_^

This post will try to explain DragonBall Z's and Tyro's question.
The difference between this and the old way is that Member's have something to work towards to. When we would show Post Count we'd have people thinking the higher their post count the better. Thus they'd end up spamming majority of their time here. So with them not knowing how many posts they'll need to move up a rank, will make it easier on us by having to clean up less spam. Though we know we'll still get spammers who want a higher rank, but they'll be dealt with accordingly. The reason we still have Post Points are so we can fill up some more space under the Mini-Profile area. There is a way to turn them off, and if enough of you want them off, I'll be more then glad to do so. However, the reason we do not show Post Count anymore is because we don't have that option. It is either Post Count OR User Rank, and after taking a vote between the Staffers, User Rank came out ahead 8-1.

So this question has kind been bugging me, and I've read threw this whole topic and I don't think it has been adressed...
How do you determine how many points a post is worth? I've seem posts of worth 1, 4, and 7, but nothing inbetween. Is that all there is?
