I remember the old 18+ board... Funny that I was a mod of the board at 16...

I really could care less. But I would find it a little odd as the Lounge/Gas Chamber seem to do the same job.

Quality before quantity. The requirement shouldn't be based on something so inconsequential and insignificant if there are to be requirements.

The Gas board is filled with a bunch of spammy topics as well.

Well this shouldn't have requirements, but if it gets out of hand like random people posting I LIKE PIE, 400 times, well then that's what it has to come to.

As was mentioned before this has all been done in the past. It didn't work out extremely well to begin with. It wasn't exactly active enough either. The only way I can see this working is if it was heavily moderated and active enough. The mod situation isn't a problem as I'm sure Manic would probably take the reigns in there, and let's face it, most people won't try to mess with Manic. The second part is what worries me. There doesn't seem to be enough serious topics or members serious about debating said topics. We can't have a forum dedicated to 2-4 active topics per week. That does not make a forum. That actually kills the forum.

The best way for you to move this forward from here is to actively create and participate in these kinds of debates in the lounge. The lounge is not to be used for spam or anything of the like, that's what the gas chamber is for. If a serious topic gets derailed I'd ask that you report it and have a mod handle it. If it doesn't get handled fast enough then let me know about it. The lounge should be a clean area so keep that in mind.

Having said that we are discussing a slight restructure of certain things and that will be taking effect quite soon I hope. Also in terms of getting things like new forums made, Ace doesn't usually handle that, he mostly takes care of coding and special or major requests. Myself and Goku handle the rest so for a fast and easy response you can ask us. If we feel it necessary we'll ask Ace about it. He's just usually too busy to field requests like this.

Punxx, if we had a serious debate section, I'd be posting often each day. And if something got off topic, I'd be one of the first to put it back on/report it to Manic.

We really do need a serious debate section. (It should actually be more of a discussion section...)

That's more or less what the Lounge area should be now. I'm happy to rename the lounge and then re-work the rules. But think about it, if serious discussion and debate gets it's own forum, then what the heck is going to go in the lounge?

Example of Lounge topics: Warcraft movie, weighted training clothes, favorite flavor, worst movies of all time, interesting experiment, post a pic of yourself, MFG 3.0 usernames, cherry blossom festival, getting a prom date, funny sigs, video of the week, happy 4/20. You get the idea.

Example of debate topics: disciplining children, abortion, religion/atheism, education, evolution, gas prices, politics, anarchy, the cost of living, vegetarianism/animal rights, war, terrorism, poverty, drugs/alcohol, society, separation of church & state, philosophy, the death penalty. You get the idea.

Since there seems to be a much higher demand for this than I anticipated, I will bring it up with Goku and Ace and will personally give it some more thought. I'll have to work some things out but hopefully we can make this work. I'm not going to make any promises but I will figure something out to make everyone happy hopefully.

Yeah, I'd likely be relying on you and probably Vegeto to manage things in there. You both have a no-nonesense policy about you that it seems to me would be the only way to work things out.

I don't see the point when we have a perfectly good Lounge for this kinda thing.

Y'know why people don't discuss those things in the Lounge? Me neither. But they canif they want to. Nobody seems to want to.

If someone has a burning issue they want to settle, then hell, they will post it in the Lounge. The Debate Section will just make a load of useless topics and will die in about 3 months.

It can also be a contributing factor to the forum overall as it would have higher quality content within its threads. The lounge is random, mostly anything can go in it.
