MFG is startin' to piss me off now. Granted this is about an RPG topic, I doubt it can be soled through the RPG. I've already had similar problems before, but MFG seems to have problems when copying something from MS Word and then being pasted into a post. The first time it happened, my font size was screwed up. granted I didn't really care for that, the thing in the RPG is gettin' annoying for me.

I keep my character sheet on MS Word and update it through there before editting my original post to paste the editted version. It aint much, but everytime there is something bolded the entire post becomes bolded. Also, the font changes to verdana which when bolded looks complete crap. This is only a personal prefernce, but is there a way to get around the auto-editting (I've tried usin' the "go advanced" and changing through there) or a way for y'all to turn off the auto-changing?

I'm sure Ace is best suited to answer this but I will say one thing.

When we update to vB 3.7 this may be one of the 'bugs' that get fixed along the way. We might have to wait for the update so that we can get a definite answer for that, otherwise I'll just leave it to Ace.

What you could do is type it, click preview post, then past that onto word, see what is wrong, then fix that in MFG.

Thats what I do sometimes.

Kei, I'd rather not type out my entire character sheet onto MFG when I already have it saved on MS Word.

It's usually a few words you have to type or edit, not entire paragraphs. Unless it's the biography, which can easily be edited here after you copy and paste. I've never run into this problem.

You could just copy the sheet into a new post, and fill in what needs to be filled in right there. You really need Word to find out how to spell a height? =/

No, but as of now, I already have my sheet created and don't feel like writing it up again.

Anyways, used note pad and although it made some changes, it was fixed to look normal.

When you copy and paste it, after you post, try editing again, just to make sure everything is fine.

I do. When I try to check to see if everything is alright, it fucks up again. If I post and then re-edit to change the errors, it turns out fine.

I've lost some massive posts when typing them in MFG text box for various reasons. If they're anything longer than 15 lines i usually type it in word/notepad, i just don't bother to format it in mfg though

A couple of tricks:

-- Switching back-and-forth from the HTML editor mode can sometimes fix formatting problems from Word, etc. (that's the "A/A" box in the upper-right corner)
-- If that doesn't fix it, you might try Firefox; its copy/paste behavior isn't always the same as IE
-- There's a plugin for IE called "iespell" that does in-line spell checking: ieSpell - Spell Checker add-on for Internet Explorer
-- To avoid the possibility of losing text after typing it into the browser, type control-A to select all of the text, and then control-C to copy. If the post fails to post, you can then paste with control-V to recover your text. I always do that, since I like to use the formatting aids in the browser, which aren't available from Word.
