A while ago, I didn't really see the merit of it being updated when a ban occured, since people generally only get banned for being dicks, but with some people dropping like flies lately, it would be kind of nice for reasoning to be updated in one spot. Not only to show exactly what kind of conduct or action the user was banned for, but also to help eliminate the multiple question topics that emerge about it in the gas chamber as well. Would one of you staff be willing to keep the list updated? Or whoever dishes out the ban at the given time?

Good on you Muff, I was thinking about making a topic like this myself. It seems a lot more beneficial than just PMing an admin, admins must be forced to retype the same information on a habitual basis.

But I do know that all bans were forgiven when we moved here (or maybe it was to CS, not sure.)

The bans were all forgiven with each forum update. IE: Invision to CS. CS to vB. That just means that they were aloud back, they would obviously be given less leniency this go round if they put their foot in it.

As far as a record of current bans is concerned, vB admin CP keeps a record of all perm bans but not temp bans. I'll make the list, which is surprisingly short so far, so that there's a record somewhere. Rule of thumb here is going to be that if someone appears banned and they're not on this list then it isn't permanent for whatever reason. I'll make that clear when I recreate the topic though.

Of course you'll have to give me time to get to this, time is short today but I'll do what I can.

What about temporary bans? Shouldn't they be editted in and out? I understand that's a hassle, but it's they that people really care about. Perma-bans are just that, over and done with.

It would be way too much of an undertaking for me to do this. I have no objections if a mod wanted to add a post after this to deal with temps but I'm not in the right position to take care of this. Since vB doesn't keep a record of old temp bans it could be problematic. I'm fine if a staffer wants to update that list as it goes though.

Let me know if someone wants to do this and I'll unlock the official topic so they can add a post to it for editting purposes.

I suppose we could also find another way to deal with those, we'll see what comes up. I'm open to suggestions.
