We should remove the reputation function and the marker that shows how many posts a certain user has made. Why?
Reps have just gave way to countless topics that were made just for the purpose of reps, and is just an annoying and pointless feature in general. Perhaps if there were an actual purpose (you know, like actually rating people on quality of their posts and not just because somebody asked), it might be okay but all it has done is given rise to widespread retardation. Post numbers are equally pointless, and like the rep function, have lead to a lot of stupid things in the past. Entirely unnecessary, causes bloated egos, and is the reason for a number of stupid threads. That is all. |

I think post count should stay. Although people sometimes make stupid threads about it, they aren't exactly breaking the rules unless they're actually breaking the rules. Depends on where they're posting their threads about it anyway. Plus, it's cool for me to see how many posts I made. I like to see my post count from time to time, but it's not an ego issue for me.

I'd agree with both of those things if something was provided to make the forums much, much more entertaining. Basically, I'm saying that if they were to be removed. Your conversations would still be boring shit.
Rep whoring fills the void that the lack of any other interesting or amusing conversation has made.

More like rep whoring causes a lack of interesting discussions. If people weren't willing to seek out dumb humor then they would be more focused on actually saying something noteworthy.
Basically, I'm saying that the introduction of reputation has had the opposite effect on discussions than it was supposed to. |

I doubt it. That's why character obsessions such as Itachi are born as well. There's nothing better to do than make fun of him and/or Nikushimi. I somehow doubt that if you take away those two things we'll suddenly start talking anything more intellectually stimulating than 'What'd you do today??' or 'Whose the best character??'

Every forum is definitely going to have some less-than-appealing material on it, but you guys are actually arguing on behalf of some of it. I find it highly unlikely that you guys are incapable of thinking of anything interesting to talk about, or else you're just pretending to be uninteresting so you can go back to doing uninteresting things.

Hey. Lay off my uninteresting activities. Because they are definitely uninteresting enough to not interest me.
If every forum is going to have unappealing material on it, why do you expect this DBZ forum (The name alone should be a hint at what sort of content one would find here) to be different. Surely removing a rep system that only spawns topics which are put in the designated section, with the exception of a few people that feel the need to go 'Rep me' at every fucking thing, from this forum would still result in the uninteresting shit it spawned previous to the rep system. It'd just be removing one more thing that keeps people here and entertained. Opposed to not here, or here and finding other ways to be annoying.

I remember there actually being humorous things happening in this forum before I left. The only big hit MFG took while I was around was when Squallsoft left, since he was one of the few people who weren't complete jackasses. Despite the fact his posted picture was him holding a Buster Sword in his bedroom, he was pretty cool.
When I came back there were pretty much only a few differences, the rep system was here, Nikushimi thought he was the shit, you got gayer, and there were a few new faces. Nikushimi doesn't have that much weight in things like this, so it couldn't be him. You could hit on girls all day long and I'm sure it wouldn't make a big difference here. The newer people are (most of the time) just following the older members around in topics, so they obviously have no part in this. Hm. I guess there really isn't any reason the forums should be th--OH WAIT, the rep system has been introduced. People have started using it for their own childish games (let's neg/posrep somebody a bunch, it'll be fun), and that has drawn attention from basically anything in the Lounge area that would involve .. thinking. Right now, I'm placing the rep system in the same area as the entire Text-Games area and random meme spouting. |

Hu Hu~
You can believe that removing the rep system will put this forum the way it was all you want, but it'll never come true. Lots of members left, any interesting topic seems like it's been talked about before, and in all honesty there's really nothing to do here but play silly little games with the other members. You can be entertained by talking politics and other such things, but the rest of us need lesser intellectual vices to be entertained. I don't see how other people playing games with their reps should effect anyone looking for an intelligent conversation. It probably does, but ignoring it seems like the obvious response. I'm not completely opposed to the rep system being removed, as it...has been admittedly ridiculous with all the topics (although they are in the spam section anyway). It'd be amusing to see if the forum could be as entertaining and intelligent as you seem to think it would be without it.

I didn't say we needed to bring back the serious discussion board. I'm saying that people need to quit focusing their efforts on the repping deal and try to actually talk. By removing the rep system, I'm hoping that it will cause people to grow up a little and try to discuss something. The only way to get people to hop into a discussion is to start an argument, because anything short of that isn't enough for them to get off of their lazy palms and type something up.
