IP Address bans

Is it possible on here?

I mean i'm a member of sites where they ban an IP address, meaning a person cannont use more than one account at the same IP address... stopping people making multiple accounts after being banned.

It doesn't stop people making multiple accounts pre-ban however.

Just a suggestion as it occured to me that certain movie character fanatic members are coming back as more than one account after being banned to deliver further stupid, pointless, annoying messages.

I don't know how to use IP address bans, I just know of them.

They can make all the accounts they want before the ban, but when they are IP banned they won't be able to use those accounts without getting a new IP altogether.

But even then, they should just make a new account under that new IP so nothing could be connected to the old identity.

Green Dragon, I know the situation you're talking about and it's not the same IP anyways. I'll check the IP again to make sure there isn't a new duplicate but there hasn't been one in the past. I've heard this from at least 3-4 different people now in 3-4 different ways., I appreciate the initiative but bring it to us in a pm instead trying to out someone publicly.

And basically Hal is right with what he said above.

Almost. IP Bans work for most people who don't know how to get around them. But if they do, there's no way to get rid of them if they have no life and want to sit there and create account after account and spam.

Well if we talking about IP bans we should sometimes check the IPs (and/or hosts) and ban its ranges becouse some users use proxy servers to access.
If you get any group of persons banned and theyr IP's look similar (some parts are equal) you should ban that range.
The exception should be LAN networks where users could come more than once.
