Of course it was edited. I thought that was made pretty clear by leaving the font totally different and saying "In all seriousness" afterwards. I'm not going for a delicate work of art, just a few laughs. Congratulations on cracking the case, detective =/.

Again, though, while it is akward to have that sort of thing in the line up, I don't really think it's harmful. It's just text. Text that hardly anyone reads, since it's been up there since the dawn of MFG 5.0 and no one really noticed it until now.

The way Google ads work is that they extract keywords from a page (or from just the URL if they can't access the page for permission reasons, etc), and use those keywords combined with how much advertisers are willing to pay to find the "best" ads to show.

The ads have nothing to do with what people are currently searching for on Google, or with what you've searched for in the past.

Unfortunately, they provide very little control for publishers like MFG to filter the ads that show up, so there are bound to be occassional ones that don't fit with the rest of the site...
