As you have probably figured out by now, there are a ton of new features in vBulletin. I would like to make a FAQ to explain them, but I don't want to spend a lot of time writing something that no one will read or care about.

So I'd like to ask for your help. Please ask a question in this thread about vB that involves something new or cool. Even if you already know the answer, ask anyway if there's a chance that others might have missed it. (I might reword your questions slightly if there's another aspect to them that seems appropriate).

I'll start:

Q: Are there any new BB codes?
A: Yes. You can now embed a YouTube video in your post. The video ID is the last part of the youtube.com URL (easily copied from the address bar). You can also access this BB code from an icon in the post editor. Click here for a full list of current BB codes.

A: This is a new feature that's still under development. The goal is to be able to have different sets of ranks with names that come from different anime series. If you want to experiment with it, you can go to your User CP, click on Group Memberships, then Join Group for the Naruto Rank group. After that, be sure to click on "Identify me as a member of this group".

A: To post or reply to notes in your own profile, click on Quick Links in the top menu bar, and select My Profile. From there, click on the Post User Note link in the Forum Info section of your profile (or click on the View link to see or edit notes that have been previously posted -- there's also a Post New User Note link on that page).

To post notes for other users, click on their username almost anyplace it appears, such as in a post or in the thread summary. That will take you to their profile, where you can click on the Post User Note or View links as described above.

If you don't see another user's name around, then click on the Member List link in the top nav bar. From there, click on the Search Members link on the upper right side and enter the name of the user you're looking for.

Q. How does the reputation system work?

Answer: Click the silver Scale in the top right of someone's post. There, you can Add or Deduct 1 reputation point. Basically, it's a system that gauges members by popularity. For example, when someone posts something you like, you give them 1 reputation point. Eventually, that member will gain one more green square on the rightside of their posts. (They start with 1. 1+1=2.)


Oh, and I tested it by giving you 1 Reputation.

Answer: They're memberships into small Groups. For example, if you want your Rankings (Kami of Earth, SSj, SSj2...) to become Naruto-style rankings, join the Group Membership for it. Likewise, if any Clans return, you'll probably have to apply for a Group Membership to access the Clan Board. To do so, go to User CP -> Group Memberships. It should give you a list of the current Groups. Just apply and the Head will approve you. At the moment, there's only one group, though.

I knew this one from my time on NarutoFan and Engi.

I believe there is a switchable option in the 'Group membership' place in your profile. Where you can choose 'Be identified as Naruto Ranks' or 'Be identified as Default'

Question: Do the Naruto Ranks go higher than (10) Genin?

I do not think so since I have the same rank as you yet you have way more posts. You should be atleast a Jounin.

The number of reputation points that you pass on to other members is determined by your rep level, which is now displayed near your post count on every post you make. If your rep level is 6, for example, then you can add or take away 6 rep points when you click on the scales.

The idea is to add or subtract from someone's reputation based on the quality of their posts, rather than popularity (hopefully).

Admins can optionally turn off the popularity system for themselves. I just turned mine on, so I'm no longer exempt.

Not yet. We still need an ordered list of 30 Naruto ranks.

Would anyone like to volunteer to help put one together? It should be based on powers or skill, not on individual characters.
