I was thinking last night, has anyone ever thought to roleplay their job?
I mean what I'm getting at is if we want to roleplay it, can we save the stamina that we usually use if we weren't roleplaying, and use that on different things and make the effort to actually RP the job choice. EX: I have 3 stamina ... I use 2 on a training and 1 on an attack. I roleplay my job in a topic/post ... you read it, and based on the effort put forth and the all that stuff you can say that we earned 1-2-3-4-whatever amount of stamina for it as a bonus? Or could we RP it and get a money bonus? If you need more clarification then IM me ... cause I'm pretty sure that MB is going to see this. So ya ... possible? Good/Bad Idea? Get back to me...

Well, nostalgia woo woo.
We tried something like this back when I was still a mod...and the whole roleplaying thing just doesn't roll to well with a lot of people. Extra bonuses for RPing can be in some cases unfair, cause a lot of peeps just want to hang out and take things nice and slow, not be left behind in the dust with people getting new gear and better stuff before they can come even close to affording it. Sure, little boosts start out little...but things stack up compared to the natural flow. I don't know what the others will say, but it doesn't really feel fair to everyone. :'p

A while ago you could roleplay your job and you would get some bonus cash. I think it would be kind of interesting to make it so you could roleplay your training as if you were doing it at "home". I think it would be just fine to roleplay your jobs now and we can give some bonus cash.
Though, I prefer not to allow bonus Stamina type stuff from roleplaying. If we did that then people would roleplay a bunch and get a lot of Stamina. I prefer just giving a bonus to what the final part gives. So go ahead and roleplay your job if you want to, but it'll give some extra cash 8). Since it's the same thing as roleplaying a training, except for extra cash, I don't see the harm. It would be pretty boring (if you chose something like Capsule Corp Salesman) since it's a job, but I'm sure you'll find a way to spice it up 8). I don't see how it's unfair if everyone can do it, though. It's just a way to encourage people to roleplay more. After all, this is a roleplaying game. |

Well, maybe it was just the way I was doing it. We were encouraging roleplaying first by giving extra bonuses. 5% to 10% extra earnings, whether it was stats or money.
Then we made it so that at the end of sagas or fights, the people who were thought to have roleplayed the best (selected by the team of Mods) would get more stats then the rest. Because of this the same people were usually in rank 1 over and over. Roleplaying or not, a lot of people just don't want to be left behind cause they don't want to put in the extra effort. But if ya' can make it work without it being uneven, then go for it. =p

Well saga's only have two bonuses now. I still can't understand how the same bonuses can not be equal or fair.
The people that put in more effort will obviously become the best. It makes sense seeing as how that's how it works in real life for the most part. I roleplayed a lot of trainings and I barely became stronger than people that started a day or two before me. Since everyone has equal opportunity then it's up to them. Saying that it is unfair that people will get a bigger bonus for putting in more effort is basically the same thing as saying it's unfair that he won because he's a better roleplayer. It's a roleplaying game and better roleplayers end up being the best for the most part. What wouldn't be fair is if someone put in 10x the effort of someone else and ended up the same as the person that did practically nothing. |
