Should it really be illegal? The only reason why it is would be because they think married men are going to spread disease to their wives with out knowing. But what about the Joes? The guys that couldn't get lade if a sure thing was stapled to their scrotum? Why must they suffer? Discuss.

No, prostitution should not be illegal. Under the current system, prostitutes are in danger. If beaten, raped, or abused in any way, it is hard for them to go to police due to the legality of their work.

No, this should never be legal. It's of course morally wrong, STD rates will rise as well. Prostitution is another reason why there are so many STD's being spread around.

It's also morally wrong to let women be ample targets for predation and abuse without giving them a chance to go to the police. It's also morally wrong to let sexual slavery run amok.

Also, the STD thing is basiclly a non-issue because it would be regulated if legal. Regular testing, protection would be required, etc. You don't hear of STD's running amok among the pornography industry do you?

That's because it's well organized, prositution is not organized like that at all. It's all about money and pleasure by any means. It's hard to justify this behavior even in the porn industry, there are better and more moralistic ways to earn money. There should be no reason for you to go to the extreme, and risk your health and life, as well risk the life of others by spreading STD's or obatining STD's in this manner. That's just my view on it. I also doubt that it would regulated, because no one will sit there watching a prositute and her client actually using protection, there's no gurantee, the rates of infection won't be a problem.

It's not organized because it's illegal. In Nevada, where it is legal, STDs are not a problem.

This true, but it doesn't change the fact that prostitution should not be a crime. Personal morality rarely gets to dictate law, especially a law that doesn't hurt anybody.

Sexual slavery is forcing women into prostitution. A significant proportion of sex workers were forced into it. Not the majority, but still a frighteningly large statistic. Also, for those who do choose to become prostitutes, does that make it okay that they were attacked or abuse? No.

Prostitution is an insult to society any way you slice it. I understand the whole sexual slavery thing, but and the excuses made by the people who chose that line of work is some of the biggest BS on the planet. They talk about money, and bla bla bla, but that's stupid.

Most of them go through pimps who get the money, and the pimps give them a place to stay.

What ever happened to slaving all day to earn a dollar.
I shouldn't be talking though, prostitution IS the oldest "profession" in the history of the world.

Prostitutes CAN go to the police, but it's just like gang rules, they'd be considered a "snitch" if they do. Prostitutes can be arrested for their line of work because prostitution is a misdemeanor offense, but not a federal one. They can't be tried unless they are knowingly spreading an STD. When they are knowingly spreading an STD without telling the people that they are having sex with, believe it or not, that is considered "Assault with a Deadly Weapon".

That would be a budget nightmare, especially with the economy currently as bad as it is. And the whole porno issue that you brought up actually isn't accurate. There was an HIV scare in the porn industry just last year.
