Affirmitive Action, are you for or against and why.

I am against it because it divides people into groups instead of unifying us, and takes a step backwards from equal rights/opportunity. With minorities growing and soon (in the next 25 years) to become the majority, this presents a disadvantage to the majority. If someone is applying for a job they should get it based on their skills, not the colour of their skin.

Jobs in general are pretty shitty. Affirmative action is bullshit and I pretty much agree with what you say.

Companies don't rely on what kind of a person you are to decide whether you're good for a job or not, just whether they'd be able to hire you and throw you into a pit right away. Gotta have lost a job in order to get another job.

I'm slightly confused at this concept. Hal and Inu, you are saying that this affirmative action is an act of racism because it discriminates against a certain group of people, correct me if I'm wrong. I disagree.

Personally, I think the context used in that quote is racist. However, affirmative action in general seems like a good idea to me, unless I'm missing something. I agree that I would prefer to hire a more qualified person for a certain job, regardless of skin color of course.

I never said anything about racism. It's just bullshit for any employer to choose an employer for their heritage or gender or ethnicity rather than what they can actually do. It just isn't fair to give any group of people a boosted chance at obtaining a job for no reason.

Doesn't matter. One shouldn't be paying attention to that. Nobody should hire a weak black person for a physically daunting task because black people are typically strong. That's just stupid.

If a certain race were on the whole better at a certain skill, then there is a better chance for someone of that race to be hired over someone else. But it isn't because he is of that race. It is because he was good at it. Get it?

I do get it and have gotten it from the start. I'm just trying to explain why that all races are equal stuff is just nonsense. Because Blacks are physically stronger, they would get the labour jobs before the whites. You could say someones prejudaced against the whites because they are weaker.
