Initial jobless claims soar - Sep. 25, 2008 Do you agree with the huge bailouts of mismanaged companies using US taxpayer dollars? Is this the way to fix the struggling American Economy? 700 Billion Dollars. So many things could be done with this money, including health care for all, fixing education etc.. Some even suggest giving it back to the people, which sounds like a good idea but $2,300ish for each American isn't going to solve economy issues. Financial bailouts of big companies isn't directly helping and the American people, and seeing the price tag on this move by Bush they don't want it to happen. The people are speaking out but whether they have enough (or any) sway in the decision is yet to be seen. This is a ridiculous amount of money to be throwing around in the final months of a presidential term. Sounds to me like Bush had some friends to pay off before he's kicked out of office. Man has this guy dug a hole for the US. I think the money has to be put into solutions for the future. Let these companies die, new ones will rise from their ashes and learn from their mistakes. Using this money for new forms of energy, social services including more disaster relief funds and help for people losing their homes - build shelters that will withstand floods, hurricanes and tornadoes. We are social creatures, if you see someone suffering, you help them. The money should be used to rebuild and strengthen the middle and lower class. There should be no poverty or homelessness in North America with the technology and wealth that we posses. |

I saw Clinton on the Daily Show the other day talking about it. He said that, as Americans, we need to make an agreement to where if this deal is made would should see a huge return for it, and not just breaking even.
That aside, no. Fuck this. Plenty of businesses die out all the time and it isn't up to the government to fix their mistakes.

700 billion? Fuck, I thought it was 7 billion. I completely agree that bailing out some stupid ******s is less important then building houses and improving healthcare etc.

What would I do with 700 bil. Hmm...Live off the interest of course. And probably allow several companies to live off the interest as well just to blow some of it.

He's certainly expanded that hole with his JCB of doom.
I'm not sure what I would do with 700 billion quid. I suppose I could anything I want and in bulk loads. I definately wouldn't tell anyone I had it and don't worry I wouldn't be driving a gold plated Ferarri with a gold toilet installed, to give the game away.

Buy a diamond throne and rule over the Earth, which I would also buy.

You expect to buy the earth with $700 billion, when just one company is being bailed out for that much? Yeah, right.
Anyway, this topic is derailing. The title was more of just an attention grabber for a discussion about the actual bail-out. |

I know. The bail out doesn't effect me so I really have no opinion of it.

How can you say it doesn't affect you? This is taxpayer money (and a hell of a lot of it) they're throwing around.
I was talking with my section commander on the weekend about this and he was saying if they didn't bail these companies out, people would lose their life's investments and homes and such. He's taking economics in university, I'll be looking into this side of the debate soon. |

Since when is it the government's business to spend tax-payers' money to save failing businesses?
What the fuck? Take that 700 billion and turn your living room into Peewee's Playhouse instead, that'd probably be more productive.

Solve the bike epidemic Ha-Zah!
This is what happens when you elect a man with an IQ of a Mountain Gorilla. Can't say that I am not surprised by this. If it were me, there wouldn't be such a financial debt to begin with and that 700 Billion would go towards environmental strategies as well as providing low income housing; help programs for those who are struggling as homeless people. But it isn't me, it is George Bush. It is the nature of mankind to think of yourself before others. Way to go America you sure know how to pick'em. Quote:

I personally would donate quite a lot to MFG for my Friend of MFG badge, then buy 4chan and close it.
But seriously i find it stupid that the American government is going against capitalistic views and bailing these companies out.
