That's just how arrogant we are.

But anyways, the Earth literally ending would take a very, very long time. I think the most likely would be getting sucked into a black hole, but otherwise there's no much that could destroy it besides an asteroid at least half the size of Earth.

Post Re: The end of the Earth

One thing that is a fringe on our privacy is what defense officials are doing. With most European areas [Great Britian, Germany, etc.] projecting information that they will likely turn into a SubTerranean climate by 2020. Why is this information not being given to us? Surely, they should be telling the public this, instead of hiding it from the public. One official was quoted in an article saying, "Climate change will kill us, not Nuclear War".

I personally believe we will [and are] gradually build into more dramatic weather, resulting in drastic climate changes that we won't be able to adhere to quick enough, ultimately wiping out small populations at a time before it gradually affects everyone, everywhere in the world.

It all depends of how fast the climate changes. Given a few thousands year could make all the difference for the humans to evlove or adapt technology to save the population.

Homosapiens where largely formed by the ice age. Also at this current moment homo-sapien-sapiens live in all the ranges of the extremes of our earths surface, from hot to cold. Deserts are the extreme and people leive in them.

I concur, even a 100 years would seem to be a sufficient amount of time to adapt, considering all of the ever-growing improvements in society.

Default Re: The end of the Earth

The Earth and the wholly Universe itself can end at any moment, whether it be a natural disaster or something beyond fathoming. That, to me, is the crude nature of the universe - that life can end at any moment as we know it, not "tough times" of any kind or any type of "workplace". Life and death is a natural process - the nature of rebirth. So it's not assiduously something I'd fear. But when the Earth will end? Hard to say. There's no way to point a thing like that out as of now, and we're probably no place near knowing. It could be 50 years, it could be two millenniums away. Again, it's not death I fear, but the death of the strength inside whilst alive in all beings in full.

Though, it's possible that our abrasive presence on this planet could be expediting the process of its end. But - again - it's hard to say. It's not something I think about with any certainty. As for where we'd go if the Earth would end? Difficult to say. I'd think we'd be better off migrating in another solar system or galaxy than another planet of this solar system, though the capacity to do that seems like it's, apparently, a very far cry away from humanity.

The technology to be able to live on other planets is probably only a few hundred years ahead of us.

Perhaps but we will not even make it to the moon again until 2020 , I beleive thats the current plan date.

We don't even have a place to live on the moon yet ( if we have even been there :P)

Also we haven't even been to mars.

The 5 Scientific Experiments Most Likely to End the World | Cracked.com

So, science could well fuck us all up. I'd rather it was something like a black hole opening up and ending it all at once than a meteor we had to slowly watch dropping. I'd hate to have to experience that and to see the terror of my family and friends.

I don't see why anyone believes that 2012 shit. Just because ONE race thought that does not mean the hundreds of races alive today should follow suit. Maybe they believed in global warming too, and it's not any of this majestic, deep meaning to the end of the world. I personally think in the next twenty years the Earth will be beaten down and gutted to the point of disintegration, and we will either move to the Moon or go down with the ship.

Seen that article before. Quite funny.

2012 is going to be a fun year for those worrying about the LHC now.

Obviously I don't believe the sun will ever blow up. Was it that hard to figure out?

No, actually I thought the Earth would just spin off into the universe and orbit around another sun. >___>

It would take millions of years to reach another sun, and it would have to be extremely lucky to not just fly into the nothingness of space never to see light again...

Mar's core cooled down and it lost it's electromagnet force field, now it get hit with all the intensity of the sun. Scientist worry about our core cooling and then lost of life will die, if not all. I would think at least a extinction of 99.9% if not 100. With out the EMF =we loose atmosphere= loose water=loose enviroment that even the super micro organism can call a home and habitat. The poles will change someday once more.. Crazy huh... And the earth changes on its axis some hundred thousand years. Then none of the things homo-homo sapiens have built will match up with the stars. Like the pyramids or the stone hedge.

End of the world, yea it could and will happen someday. Homo sapiens maybe (probably)long gone before it happens though.
