And for a culture so obsessed with the calendar it makes no sense whatsoever for them to just end it at Dec 21 2012 for no reason. They could predict solar eclipses 5000 years into the future to the day, but can't tell what happens on Dec 22 2012? Pllllleaaaseee. Gimme a break

fourteen years after that an asteroid about the size of our moon is going to either hit earth

bounce off its gravity and smash into one of the other planets

or..hopefully we'll be able to blow it up

given that thats actually fact and scientists have spent fifteen years coming up a way to throw a couple multi GT nukes at it (i think they do already have a counter for it its just still if that fails)

you can speculate what ever you want...about twenty twelve

i;d be more worried whats coming..a decade and change after that...

alot alot more worried..since..well. that is going to be a 100 percent fatal if no counter works or lady luck does not save us

I don't think you can blow up a black hole. It isn't a solid object, just a strange spot of gravity.

You're going to have a satellite in space, aimed at the earth, and fire nukes into the black hole to "push it the other way." The other way is the earth.

If a black hole were to appear from the LHC, it would dissipate into nothing because it is too small. But, for pessimists, if it were to stabalize, the earths gravity would pull it to the core of the planet, and some fucked up shiznit would begin to happen to the earth, before it is inevitably eaten alive. Every trace of our civilization, even the probes and such that have left our solar system will be sucked up.

We still know very little about black holes. There are theories that for every particle there is a twin particle. If scientists could create a negative black hole, or bridge the gap between these twin black holes, in theory both black holes would be destroyed. If these methods were possible, we might be able to destroy the biggest black holes in the universe as well as small ones.

There may be other ways to destroy them as well, we just don`t know enough about them.
