The Mayans predicting end of the world in December of 2012 doesn't nessicarily mean that the physical and or biblical armaggeddon is coming in 2012, or atleast not in the way that we precieve it. It could simply mean the end of this era in humanity and the begining of the next. But what that new begining will be, or even if there will be a new begining, I'm not sure of what that means.

But to give an example it could be anything from the future of our race to the way that we precieve the world socially and ethically. In all reality, a total change in ethics and/or social structure would mean armageddon for humanity as we have come to know it. Humanity has been working under the same basic social and ethic structure for thousands of years. Even the leaders of the newly fabricated "free world" are essentially dictators in their own name.

Money is the root to everything that humanity functions on socially. People work for money, so that they can "one-up" the next guy. Money isn't naturally important, it's only important to humanity.

Money is a collection of bargaining items, a price set upon to ease the barter system. Naturally animals store items for the winter, humans did this, but added trade into it so we could get more diversity, and ease things. Suddenly values became complex, how could you trade a goat for a chicken? Much too difficult. Thus, you say, goat=100 dollars, you then purchase the goat and are happy.

Money is basically the storing of necessity.

The Mayans used the stars to depict how the Universe works, and as a result, created their eerily accurate calendar. They most likely stopped at Dec 12, 2012 because the consistant positioning and path of stars may or may not continue beyond that because by observing the stars, the Mayans discovered something that scientists scientists have only recently rediscovered.
The Mayan calender ends on the date of Dec 12, 2012; Scientists have only recently discovered that our solar system will line up with the central gravitational pull of the Milkyway on that exact date.
No one really knows exactly what will happen on that date, but scientists consider the possibility of the Earth having a pole shift, which has only happened once in the past 1.5 billion years. As a result of this possible pole shift, every major celestial body in our section of the galaxy will likely change position in the sky.

If a pole shift does occur, massive hurricanes like Katrina and Andrew will be the least of our problems. What we'll then have to worry most about is not only a massive climate change, but tsunamis and earthquakes. Millions, perhaps billions of people could die as a result. There will probably be a massive extinction like the one 65 million years ago.

A lot of people make up shit. Some stuff ends up with a lot of people believening them (Like a lot of current religions) and some don't. I'd be extremely surprised if any of these random beliefs ended up to be true.

Okay I got bored of reading most pages so sorry if this has been mentioned.

Mayans predicted 9/11 to the hour, either luck or maybe they can predict what will happen?
The black hole is actually going to be caused on earth.. In a certain country can't remember which now but basically they are making a machine, a particle collidor or something around them lines, people believe when they particles collide it will create a black hole within the earth and suck us up.
People said that when the bees disappear 4 years later the world will be destroyed or something like that, funny that bees are now disappearing isn't it? XD It's more obvious for some countries than others though..
There are some other reasons though... but the only reason this hasn't really been spoke about is to avoid a public issue with everyone going crazy etc screaming.
Also if we don't die in 2012 I do believe we will die in 2039 I believe from the commet thats going to collide with earth. This will destroy half the population and will cause Tsunami's so big it'll erase most of the surviviors and if you survive that you'll have to deal with volcanoes...

It's all a matter of opinion though... except 2039 thats been checked up on by scientists. XD

The scientists that are using that particle accelerator said themselves that it wouldn't form a black hole. I've seen no evidence of bees disappearing, either.

All these End of the World theories are full of holes. They make claims with nothing to support it.
