Default 10,000 dead in Burma.

A cyclone hit Burma and killed close to 10,000 people. I thought I'd bring light to this because most people haven't heard a thing about it in America/Europe. The nation went up in flames about Hurricane Katrina, where little over a thousand died, and even storms that kill less than ten people are presented on the news more than this. American media kind of sucks considering 10,000 people are dead and forgotten over here.

I'll comment later but, if you're not kidding, why is that topic in the gas chamber?

That's because it's not our nation.

We handle our own affairs and interests, they handle theirs.

I don't know why it's in the Gas Chamber and why the hell would I joke about this?

EDIT: Yeah, you're right. No wonder we didn't hear about the London train bombings or North Korean missile tests.

Strange, I just googled it to get a bit more information and the news reports counted a little more than 350. =/ Unless 9,650 more people died in 13 hours...

Are you sure it was Burma?

Edit: Then again, tens of thousands were counted homless.

Regardless, Vivi, this is a serious issue, and people have the right to know.

I remember I wrote a report about this issue last year.

A lot can happen in 13 hours it seems. >_>

This is just...tragic. I really don't know what more to say.

All I'm saying is that, that is the reason why it hasn't received great coverage. Asides that, our economic system is sort of capitalist, thus people would only produce what they think is worthwhile. Obviously it's not viewed as important enough.

But I'm sure someone covered it. If not, tough luck.

Our economy is not sort of capitalist; it's simply capitalist. And that really doesn't have anything to do with the news. Regardless, this sucks and I hope the now-homeless stay safe.

Pfft, I bet Anne Curry (my favorite asian) will tell me about it on the Today show tomorrow. If not, then yeah. We suck something fierce.

Pft, tell that to the intervention of our government.

And, as for the homeless, all will be fixed in due time. No need to worry.

I still think this should be in the news, at least a small mention or something. Seriously, 10,000 people dying in a storm and not even a mention? Wtf?

Saying America minds its own business is like saying shoving your cock in a microwave and dialing the power to ten is a fun time. I hadn't heard about this, and being since it appears that the United States is not publicly observing this, its safe to say these people are fucked. God knows China's not going to do shit about it, and same goes for Japan.
