| The Gas Chamber Let off some steam and vent a little of that e-anger. Keep the insults low and lay off the noobs. If you're easily offended by what other people say, then this forum probably isn't for you. Because spam is somewhat tolerated, your post count will not increase here. READ THE RULES, and don't whine if you end up with a warning or suspension. |

ettercap
|MG| HijackThis 1.99.1 Security Task Manager - Windows XP process viewer |MG| Rootkit Revealer 1.71 Sounds like you have a Trojan. If everything is coming from you, your computer has been hijacked and is being operated remote. Old skool stuff was Back Oriface, but these days the Russians are generally using zombie networks for major crime. A personal, targeted attack is rare these days, but still possible. Ettercap will tell you what connections you have active, and if you spot a data stream that you don't like the look of, you can block the .exe or the port in your firewall. This will not solve the infection though. An up to date virus scanner and the other software above will help you. If someone has done a custom-write software to attack you, you are basically looking at a machine re-format and non-trusting of any application you didn't download yourself from a secure source. Again (3rd time I've mentioned it now), check out XSS and be wary of user submitted content. Everywhere. Update: Ettercap is an extremely powerful piece of software. If you use it on a network where you are not the sole user or you do not have permission from all the users of the network, it is likely that you will be committing a crime. It is not illegal to own or use, but you must have permission.

Antivirus protection is only as good as its updates, which are only as good as the lab can analyse.
Hint: This means when a new threat is released, the antivirus software will be 4 days behind. No worries on the help.

No-one bothers to write viruses for Macs. It's not a case of being immune, it's a case of no-one caring enough.

Want a real computer? Get a standard PC and put your flavour of 'nux on it. Cost of a normal computer, power of a full strength server, run Win and Mac apps under an emulator and fewer security problems than a Mac.
