It's a three year basis, on the year after, two years after or three years after you turn 18. And of course, you're supposed to go either for winter or for summer drafts, so you basically have six "chances". In the least, army service lasts for 6 months.

Or you take the civil service. Which lasts in the least for a year.

Or you go to jail. Unless you are truly unable to do said service.
