A new graduate these days expects to have about £10,000 debt. I knew some a couple of years ago with £14,000.

£2000 for the course and then £400 a month for accommadation. My course is 3 years...then a year break and 2 more for the masters.
My degree course was fine...I lived at home.

Outside London. Oh this is actually cheaper than any accommadation you'd get in Ireland with the euro. If I got a job as a campus RA I'd get rent free for a year. It's tough competition.

Yeah, he figured it was cheaper to pay the rent there than the commute charges.

As for jobs: civil service rules. 'I know someone' does not work, but if you want, I can get him to point me in the direction of the adverts.

My course I am about to do, would be considered fucking expensive, and weighs in at 15,000 dollars.

I suggest you study outside of your country.

You had respect for past armies? With a few notable exceptions (Frederick the Great is one I can think of off the top of my head), the looting/pillaging/raping quotient has generally been high.

No except for my own countries old 'armies' though army implies something more structured and a great number of participants when it wasn't always the case. Because of the persistent nature of men and women who came together in various organisations ect we finally got our country back, more or less.
I liked the armies of ancient times. It was mainly hack and slash and no pretense or lies about their reasoning for attacks or invasions. They wanted land. Gun Ho! Or sword Ho in that case.
