Ok, does anyone know a good news website? I want to know all the things happening around the world, but most news is tl:dr. So I would like a website with like paragraph overviews for important news.

Does anyone know of such a site?

You might try Digg or Reddit for aggregaiors, or Google news or Reuters for actual stories. As for a summary site, I don't really know of one.

For short stories and the funnies of the day (always including nude-person-wandering-around stories) there is always the Metro, but don't be surprised if the actual news was from yesterday. Lots of sport and celebrity gossip here (ugh).

For funny headlines and links to all news from the bizarre to serious, there is Fark, but they are all links to other stories, usually standard length, though there is a lot of links to gonzo journalism (this is actually what Fark was for, it is not a flaw).

Yahoo will give you the four most important pieces of news from the day right on their homepage. Not to mention that it updates every couple of hours and archives all of the older news pieces.

Less I agree with. But they still print propaganda without checking. Found a story there 2 weeks ago saying about a pay rise for soldiers and about how it was above inflation (MoD spokesman). When you look at the official figures for inflation, was it shit.

The Independent is good (one of the best), but not 100%.
