Problematic Children.

K, so my job lately is a counselor for a day camp.

There's this one kid that is seriously causing trouble. He's the only one and I feel bad for seriously disliking the kid because his parents said he has "social problems", but nothing else.

Should I try to channel my hate to the parents who obviously aren't doing their job? Or should I keep trying to make excuses for this kid so I don't spank him myself?

He's 7 going on 8, but he acts like he's 3. In fact he's worse than my 3 year old brother, who is a little menace as well.

He has a problem listening, cannot grasp fair play, can't share, screams, and doesn't follow directions... maybe he's ADD? The kid doesn't focus.

But seriously this kid pisses me off.

If he wasn't there, I'd love my job. I feel so bad. But it's true. >:I

Most of that crap is made up so that he can just screw around without getting in trouble. Seriously, spank his butt. Do it.

Is he extremely 'bad' or is he just being a kid? Some kids don't phase out of the brat age even at 7...some are still brats in adulthood.
Don't spank him firstly. It's no ones right to spank him, if they're not the parents. If you do they'll come down on you hard.

What are the parents like? I mean are there signs that they just don't a damn about the behaviour of their kid?

threaten him when his parents arent around. i use to tell my little sister that if she didn't do what i said i would let the girl from the exorcist come in the window at night and take her. it always worked till she got older.

then again this kid is like 8 right. tell the parents to do something about it or you will. can you complain about the kid and get him taken out if he doesn't listen.

Punishment #76: If child is being constantly disobediant, take child and make him sit on his knees with a book in each hand untill he shuts up.

Pnishment #89: If child cannot sit still then make him stand up and extend him arms untill he cries or you decide he has had enough. He should extend them like the letter T.

His behavior indicates a mental problem.

But the parents have said nothing.

We basically have to grab him and make him look at us when we talk to him. I think it's more a combination of his parents not nipping the problem in the bud and him having some sort of social disorder.

I don't think he gets out much or interacts with other kids much. That's what they said. I want to say something to my boss, but she seriously won't listen anyway. He disrupts our daily activities all the time because he doesn't understand the basic meaning of 'no'.

Just think of a 3 year old in a 7-8 old body. It baffled me because I was expecting to not have to deal with that shit and then this kid comes along. Seriously, and he's not even cute.
