Hrm. I was having a conversation with my dad and brother earlier today, and I brought up- just out of nowhere -a discussion of tastes. It mildly amused me for the twenty seconds it lasted, so I thought I'd post this here.

Basically, how do you handle different tastes of foods? For me, I prefer spicy and salty over anything, then sweet, then sour. I don't like bitter, but then, it's doubtful that anyone does. This is about how they measure up for me:

Sour: |||
Spicy: |||||
Sweet: ||||

I used to love sour things when I was little, but over time, it grew to the point where I couldn't stomach them much anymore. I still like the taste, but only if I eat such foods in small quantities. Particularly citrusy-stuff. My tongue just...can't take it.

Now, in contrast, I LOVE spicy foods, and it doesn't matter if my tongue is left raw and bleeding afterwards. Salt, too. I can pack down enough salt to cause kidney failure ten times over without a single sip of water.

It may seem pretty insignificant, yeah, but I think it's mildly interesting. If you do too, go ahead and share your tastes with us.

Salty is my No1 -I put salt on pretty much everything.
Then comes Sour, then Spicy, Sweet and Bitter.

Sweet things for me. Sour and salty things are tied, then comes spicy. I'm not fond of very spicy food, but spices can make food taste just that much better.

Well, I really like Spicy food but I just can't stomach them. They burn my toungue. I could eat an endless supply of candy, sweet or sour. Oh and I love salty food. When I eat Lays, I can't have just one. =/

That's about how it scales. I like most everything, though bitter/"no-taste" is noticably less liked than anything else. Unnatural combinations of these individual flavors can sometimes be very displeasing, however.

My like of sweets fluctuates but it is gernerally pretty low. I'd pick salty foods over anything else which is quite the unhealthy dietary choice these days.

I'm so unhealthy. xD ... then again, to be fair, I prefer rich-tasting stuff over all else. Sweet and spicy are prolly top as I like sweet foods, but if I eat too many sweet things, it's just ... ew. But I'm kinda assuming sweet goes for fruity things as well? Spicy, I don't usually eat, but I like kinda spicy things. I noticed that I dont taste spicy foods much, though - noticed that from eating things that burned my family's mouths, and were quite spicy to me, but not ... really, really hot. Sour I can stand if it's like ... fruit again, but I don't really go outta my way to eat sour sweets and stuff. Passion fruit is nice, though. And bitter ... I don't have often. xD same with no-taste 'cause I like flavourful things .. yeah. xD

So you'd prefer salty candy every day, huh? One more reason to come to Finland. Sal Ammoniac, or salmiac as the unofficial translation from Finnish to English goes, yeah that's another thing made only in Finland. Well, maybe not, but it originated from here anyway.
