Ram/Laptop Question

I was just wondering....when installing ram into a laptop do you have to wipe your feet before touching the ram like you do with a desktop?

I never knew Laptop Ram was harder find, I never knew they were different. I dont have a laptop but on my pc I have 1 Gb wich pretty sucks these days Lol. I see people with 8 gb. Lol they offered me RAM they can send by post, I was like wtf I'm not poor lol.

I get pretty much everything electronic from newegg or amazon depending on the sales.
I was able to make my own PC for $2000...which is now worth only $500.
But I have 4GB of RAM....and my computer still can't run Crysis...

The best way to do it is to get one of those cheap-o grounding straps. You attach one end to your wrist and clip the other end to the metal frame of your laptop/PC. It also helps to work on a surface that doesn't produce static electricity, like a metal or wood counter. Avoid glass or plastic tables and carpeted areas.

If you don't have a grounding strap, you can achieve a similar effect by touching and then trying to stay in constant physical contact with the metal frame of your laptop/PC while you install the memory. It can feel a little contortionist at times, but it can usually be done pretty easily.

Oh, and I hope you were joking with what you said above. Wiping your feet before you touch RAM is the total reverse of what you should do -- that's a good way to zap it dead.

Lol, I watched my grandpa install it for me. :p
He just clenched the edges and nothing of the circuitry was damaged. I now have 2 gigabytes of ram! It's much faster and smoother and running Photoshop is easier as well.
