I hope Danzig wins.
But in other news, there's a racist MMA show tonight on BET called "Iron Ring." A bunch of hip-hop artists who have never watch MMA before get to have a team of "mixed martial artists" who had to be black or Hispanic to sign up; I predict a lot of shit-talking, haymakers, and a lack of technique.

BJ Penn will win, either by sub or decision.
If BJ just worked on his cardio, he'd be unstoppable. Even GSP, who's one of the best wrestlers in the game, couldn't keep BJ down in the first round. It's only in the later rounds, that Penn started to gas, and GSP was able to take him down. I don't think Sherk will be able to get BJ on his back for long, and even if he does, Penn's BJJ is on a whole nother level, with that flexibility, he could easily catch Sherk in a triangle or gogoplata. Plus, Sherk will be less "roided" this time, we'll see how it goes... |

I don't see BJ submitting Sherk or getting a decision either. This is a five-round fight and Sherk is the king of decisions, while Penn always gets worn out before the third round. I can see all too clearly that Sherk will win this fight if he doesn't lose it in the first two rounds.
Sherk by unanimous decision.

He tooled Stevenson and made him look like a 4th grader, I doubt any other fighter in that weight class could've done that.
Right now, I think BJ could beat just about anyone in his division... he's just that good. |

Correct, but Stevenson struggled against Kurt Pelligrino, who is a good wrestler, but Sherk is twice as good. Sherk wouldn't have finishsed Stevenson in the fashion Penn did, but he still would've gotten the win. I think B.J. Penn is a great fighter, but he's not unbeatable like everyone on Sherdog thinks.

I really feel that Sherk offers BJ nothing in this fight... like literally nothing. Sherk's standup is sharp and technical but he lacks any sort of power or real threat on the feet. His wrestling is good... but Penn stuffed a lot of Hughes' takedowns, a lot of GSP's takedowns and Couture has stated that he has trouble taking down Penn. Keep in mind Couture weights upwards of 220-235 pounds while BJ is probably around 165ish.
And even if Sherk does take it to the ground Penn is arguably the greatest grappler in MMA outside of Marcelo Garcia / Jacare. Sherk will not find his guard easy to pass like Franca's nor will he find a comfort zone in which to posture up and deliver some ground and pound. |

Some would say Franca's BJJ is comparable to Penn's. Both of them know how to submit off their backs. Franca offered nothing to Sherk. Penn is definitely better standing than Franca was, but I still see Sherk getting a few takedowns late in the fight. However, I think Penn can sweep him and whatnot, so this is a tough fight to call.

In other news, the K-1 event set for April 8th looks good. I don't watch much kickboxing, but Mystic, you're Thai fighter is fighting someone who has beat him before. The only kickboxer I actually like is Mike Zambidis and he's fighting then, too. He knocked out "Kid."

Buakaw vs. Albert Kraus... the Battle of mullets.
This should be good. This is their 3rd fight, and the first one, where Buakaw lost, was a very controversial extra round split decision. I've watched the fight several times and I believe Buakaw did enough to win it, but the judges gave it to Kraus. Since then, Buakaw has evolved as a K-1 fighter tremendously, even beating Kraus convincingly in their rematch. Kraus however has had his ups and downs, he even lost his most recent bout. He's pretty good with his hands, but he rarely incorporates many kicks into his gameplan. Buakaw's boxing has definitely improved, he has a decent amount of punching KO victories in his record now. The only problem is that he's getting too confident in his punching abilities, and this showed when he tried to outbox Masato, when he should've just sticked to the low kicks, he probably would've won, and Masato's legs would've gave out. Also, in his rematch with Sato he got careless with his offense and got caught with a counter left hook, which rocked him. Luckily, he was able to hold on till the bell rang, and did enough to earn the victory. But if that was a guy like Zambidis that punched him, Buakaw may have gotten KOed. I say Buakaw takes this by Unanimous decision. Zamby is facing Souwer, who's a very skilled kickboxer, he won the K-1 MAX last year. I say Souwer takes this by decision, but there's still a chance Zamby can get that one punch KO, like he has in the past. He is the first and only person to ever knock out Kid and that was one of the most shocking KOs ever, for sure. |

Isn't Zambidis like significantly bigger than Kid? I remember when I watched the fight I thought Kid moved up weight classes to fight him or something.
I don't really follow kickboxing or thaiboxing that well. I'm more of a MMA and boxing kind of guy. Which is why I'm stoked for April 19th when GSP gets redemption. Oh and Fedor is a free agent again. I think he'll go to DREAM which wouldn't be that bad now that they have Barnett, Sergei and Cro Cop |
