Default The game industry shouldnt be blamed for....

I think itshould be blamed. When you play a violent game you're taking in a lot more than watching a violent film. When you're shooting someone you're the one pulling the' trigger'.A game like Manhunt is desined for the sole reason to kill people in as many violent gruesome varied ways.
How is that not messing up some kids mind? I play games,I love them but I too am not that stupid to believe that they are not cassing some sort of harm to people. Also the fact that underage kids can buy violent games even though they have a certificate is just a disgrace.
Some 9 year old should not have to look at something so gruesome as a head being dismembered. The world we lie in is terrible enough without childrens minds being flooded with these images.
I think a lot of you are saying this is 'dumb' because you like these games and if you did agree you'd be afraid that you wouldn't be able to play them.
I'm not saying everybody that plays violent games are madmen, but the are influencing people and there have been enough news stories that have told us about such&such a kid hurting or killing someone because they 'saw it in a video game'.
Games may be fun,but why do they need to be violent?? Because people want to see just how far they can push the limits and get people to imitate.
Is it not bad enough that they're are reall killers&madmen in the world for real...thatn people having to pick up a game to pretend to be one!??!!

It's not messing up somebody's mind because it's a -game.- It isn't supposed to be taken seriously, and if you think it is, then you shouldn't be playing violent games or watching violent films in the first place.

No matter how disgusting you say it is, it is nothing compared to real life gore. Decapitations in games are much more toned down than a real life one, but I can't expect people like you to actually research something to know what the f**k you're talking about. I'd like you to find one person that will truthfully say that playing video games caused them to do something violent.

You're taking other people's opinions and saying it's the game's fault. There is no proof that this lead to anything. The problem with kids being violent is that they have access to WEAPONS--that's not a regular fucking life. That's not the video game industry's fault. If only you people were capable of thinking about things harder than just taking the easy way out.

If you don't like them, don't play them.

Edit I've only heard of two incidents people blamed on gaming, anyway. Columbine, and the Native American school shooting.

The thing is .. the people who were shooting killed themselves, so who's to say what they did came from them playing video games? They were outcasts.

i don't think it's a huge matter the only thing i can think of to do with copying is when these kids watched a movie and someone got killed cuz they were tied to a train so the kids kidnapped a baby and tied it to a train track and killed it so i don't think it's a huge issue becaus it's very rare but it should be checked yes!

Games don't lead to horrible acts, neither does movies, at least not significantly. People just use them as something to blame on since they sure must regret what they did, since they kill themselves afterwards (the examples Twitch took up). There's one case where the kid (I think about 17-18-19 hears old) didn't kill himself, and he blamed on GTA 3. That's bull, he himself is mentally disturbed I guess.

The ones who get affected must have issues. Myself I don't play too violent games since I don't like the gore. I prefer other types of games.
I've tried out many games, but in my opinion, they contain too much gore, so much that it removes the joy of playing those games.
But that's pretty much a personal feeling, and there are people who enjoy to play more violent games, and I don't blame them as long as it doesn't affect them in a negative way.

EDIT: It's pretty much up to the parents to decide if their kid is going to play a 18+ game, so the responsibility is fully theirs if anything would occur. It's like saying that it's the tobacco companies fault that the kid smokes if they gave the cigarettes to the kid themselves in the first place. That may be a bad example, but I hope I got my thought explained well.

The thing about tobacco companies is basically in the same ball park. There hasn't been anything I've seen that would be "pushing" people to smoke, or even pushing people to do violent acts.

Hell. On violent games there are usually warnings all over the place.

"Warning Scenes in this game contain explicit violence and gore." Though, again, the gore in there isn't anything compared to real life gore. It's not a video game's fault that families let their kids get their hands on weapons and take them into public places.

"Hey, son, where are you going with that bullet proof vest and trenchcoat?"
>"Oh, I'm going to go shoot up the school."
"Alright, son, just make sure you don't get out of it without a fight."
>"See you later, dad."

In a way, video games should ACTUALLY do the opposite of cause crime and prevent it. Lets look at this logically for a minute folks, okay? In video games, you could commit a crime and get it out of your system. With this, they have relived te tension with no harm done. However, it is entirely possible that WITHOUT the video game to allwo them to simulate the crime, they might feel such a strong need to commit the crime over a period of time that the actually do commit it, and this time it will do harm. Listen, I admit that I have an anger problem, and that I can be a little psychotic at times, but I'm not stupid. And you need to be stupid to actually commit crimes because you did it in a video game.

Also, people who really get into games tend to play them. I remember getting a new game and sitting there playing it hours on end because the gameplay is so addictive, and with games like GTA, people have loads of things they can do during the main story, and many side-quests.

They're going to be sitting down for a while.
