They just started showing another season of the finnish "Idols" here, and I've been watching a few episodes in a strictly self-masochistic purpose.

What do you think of the N'Syncs and Britneyspearses out there? And especially pretty people becoming famous for looking nice and singing songs written by others, who are completely overshadowed and forgotten?
Is it ok for people with possibly no talent to become famous around the world over the night, selling millions of records, and singing/making music simply to pump out some cash?

I hate everything about this sort of thing. Especially the new trend of pretty rich girls/actresses making shitty music just to get their face on everything. Like hilary duff....

I hate sell outs and cash grabbers in music.

Personally, I think any singers caught lip synching should be tarred and feathered. apparently thats cruel though....

Rap - for being so good lyrically (exept 50 cent ad the other wankers)

Rock - For being true music (intrumental)

A lot of the time, it seems to be more about body image than actual talent (my audition is a prime example). It's just like saying ''so what if you can't sing, it's how you appear on T.V and in magazines that's important''

The whole 'media whore' thing is why I like underground music.

I hate all these MTV acts that are just pure bullshit. They do whatever their managers tell them to do, and make sure not to say anything that will get them in trouble, or that isn't a popular opinion. They just follow the popular trend at the moment, and write bland songs. Who cares if it sucks, money money money!!! Hell, most of the time they just stand around for the cameras. It seems like their image is 90% and their actual music is just a side thing.

Of course, their are exceptions (one that comes to mind is the white stripes) but overall, there are alot of talent-less drones taking up the air waves.

This is why I listen to punk

Yes... the first Idols in Finland.. we got some artists... horrrible, all of them, though.

Let's see, the winner was once a truck driver from Eastern Finland. The one who came second... well, he just blows, a crappy artist he is.

And then, the one who was third(Antti Tuisku) is in a category of his own. All I can say is, that the school I go to, made fun out of him. He looks that much a gay person, and his first musicvideo... horror.

So, we come to the conclusion, that Idols and such produce only crappy artists and bands, which have little to none talent, but still are popular because they have been on tv.

Or something.
