Yes folks it is that time of year again. It's the most wonderful time of the year. Engines are blowing and tempers are growing it's the most wonderful time of the year!!! The Daytona 500 is perhaps the most illustrious event in all of racing(close to the Indy 500). Last year's champion Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be looking for a repeat this year, and Tony Stewart(my favorite racer) will be looking for his first win on a Super Speedway. If you don't like racing, please don't post here that you don't like it.

Top 5 Racers who have the best chance to win.
1. Jeff Gordon- I hate to say it, but if I had to bet against someone, it wouldn't be Gordon. He's done it all at Daytona, winning 3 Daytona 500's. He knows how to win them, and he has a pretty good shot at winning this year. 2. Dale Earnhardt Jr- This is a guy who won 5 straight races at Talladega Superspeedway, a track much like Daytona. He is also last year's champion. Look for number 8 to possibly be #1 this Sunday at Daytona. 3. Jimmie Johnson- He was one of the most consitent drivers in 2004, and he started out 2005 with a pop. Winning the Bud Shootout, Johnson looks like he's going to put together another fine year. But can he win at Daytona? We'll see. 4. Michael Waltrip- Another strong DEI car at restrictor plate races. He is a champion of the Daytona 500 in 2001 and 2003. Brother of 3 time Winston Cup Champion Darrel Waltrip, Michael struggles a lot outside of the super-tracks. But at the supertracks, there are few better. 5. Tony Stewart- Winston Cup champion in 2002. Stewart put together one of the best rookie seasons ever, winning 3 races and posting 11 top 5 finishes in 1998. All this aside, Stewart has never won a restrictor plate race. He has finished second numerous times, including last year, but will this be Tony's year? Wild cards- Elliot Sadler, Dale Jarret and Kevin Harvick

Well for the past 4 years my favorite driver has been Tony Stewart and it will be no different this year. I'll be cheering him on. However, during the off season I read up on some of the drivers and have to say Dale Earnhardt Junior and Matt Kenseth are starting to turn out as some of my favorite drivers also. I really don't hate any drivers except Jeff Gordon. Also Dale Jarrett and Jimmy Johnson get the pole postition and outside the poll. Really can't say they are my favorite driver but I don't hate them either. I'll most likely also be cheering on Rusty Wallace seeing how this is his last year of racing for him.

That should give him some momentum for tomorrows Daytona 500 then. I can't wait to watch it. More importantly I can't wait for the race season in our town to start. Still 2 months away but should be great.

Well the Daytona 500 is under way. Right now Tony Stewart is leading it and Jeff Jarrett just went from 3rd to 30th in less then one lap because his car isn't handling very well. I can't wait to see who'll win this race.

I predicted Jeff Gordon to win and he did. Although I am unhappy that Tony Stewart didn't win.

it's good that he didn't win. make him wait for his Daytona 500 win.
i got pissed that Rusty didn't win. though he did very well today. he started at the end of the pack, barely dodged all the crashes, and made it in 10th place. i say that is good. |

Now the past 2 years Tony's led the most laps only not to finish first. I'm pissed at Jimmy Johnson for 'love tapping' Stewarts car. I was glad to see Stewart get his revenge at Jimmy's car after the race. Anyway hopefully I won't have to see much of Gordon in the winners circle this year. He is the most hated driver for me right now.

i do admit. johnson shouldn't of done that. he's an ass, but tony shouldn't of done that after the race. do that during the next race. I've have to admit that wasn't really of Tony Stewarts character to smack Jimmy's race car after the race. I would've loved it even more if Tony could've spun him out during a race Jimmy was leading. Give him a taste of his own medicine but who says Stewart is done with Johnson on the track yet?
