Jimi was a great guitarest... tho im not sure best ever. Its hard to classify one as THE best; he is one of the greatest and most influencial... but i cant say anyone is the best.

I say Eric Clapton this time, i just like his music and think even tho he didnt have the same mind-bending solo's like Hendrix, he still had great guitar work. In preference of music to listen to, i pick Clapton over Hendrix.

My vote goes to Clapton, he's done more in his lifetime, and the people who go to his concerts usually aren't stoned out of their fucking minds, they go for the music. When Hendrix played, he was usually stoned with the crowd TCP (or whatever, I don't know what it's called) under the bandana, making him worse and worse as the show went on and late in the show he'd start making horrid mistakes and he'd just leave or pass out on stage. That's the Hendrix no one knows.

Thats the part i dont like bout hendrix music, when he would just go too long. His solo's would lose their umph and just become mindless notes with an effects pedal. Sure if ya drunk/stoned n such it can sound great, but when he gets like that i just dislike his music.

Clapton is nice with the strings man... What about Eddie Van Halen or Prince? both experts with the guitar!

Eddie Van Halen is great as well... but his music is quite pop in a sense lol. Though i have to say eruption is a timeless piece of art. Prince is alright... but i never really liked his music much. If you want them compared then start a thread lol.

During the late 80's Prince was recognized as one of the greatest guitar players ever! Rolling Stone magazine... I think Hendrix was a big infulence on him?

After Clapton's first concert one of the fans was so impressed and influenced that he went and painted CLAPTON IS GOD on a big brick or steel wall.

Proof that he is indeed god. Hendrix's fans just kinda got stoned and drunk lol. Nah Hendrix is great but i think that sometimes he doesnt know when to stop... his studio tracks are great, but live sometimes he kinda just loses it.
