I have a Daito( long Samurai sword ) that cost me $1250. It was made by Paul Chen of Hanwei and is of the highest quality that modern japanese swords are made. I could get into all the specifics like types of steel, forging methods, blade tempering and polishing and countless other factors, but that would take too long so let's just say that it's good, really really good. Pretty much all swords under $400 or so are not hand made, there just factory line stuff made to look like a samurai sword and no actual forging methods went into making them. I highly recommend the book The Samurai Sword by John M. Yumoto if you are at all interested in Japanese swords. It's the best book of it's kind here in America and tells you everything you need to know about japanese blades and japanese history. Definitely worth getting, you'll be almost an expert after reading through it a few times.
Anyway, back on topic. If the world was ending, I would do all the things that I'm too much of a pussy to do now. Probably go tell a girl I liked her and see what she thought about it. Tell my family how much they mean to me. Apologize to people I've been an ass to. Then I'd pull out my sword and commit seppuku(not really). |
