I'd say just start doing everything in that language. It forces you to become familiar with it at a speaking and an 'on-paper' level. Watch movies in that language, type all in that language. If you have some friends trying to learn it too, only speak to them in that language. It's how I learned Spanish. Even as a native English speaker, I sympathize with the grammar specifics and quirks and whatnot. Infinitives are easy enough to identify (lol, pun), but some of that other mess can be hard to remeber. Even if you can speak the language fluently, pointing out parts of English speech can be a real jerk since the names the parts are given don't always click with what they are. Participles, for example. There's probably two or three in this post, but I couldn't tell you where olr what they were to save my life.

I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather, hopefully he'll recover quick enough. As for this being your last month, it's definately felt that long to me, since I remember the last few days we talked right before you left, and I miss all those wierd conversations we'd have at odd hours of the day (for the both of us).

Eh, read magazines and newspapers of that language, with the aid of a dictionary. Visit websites in that language and try reading them with the aid of a dictionary. Maybe that would help.
