Gears of War 2

Microsoft's advertising power will begin to rear its mighty head in the coming weeks, as (arguably) the most popular game for the Xbox 360's release is in sight. So, I figured it was time to make a dedicated thread for this game.

A few questions to all of those replying to this thread:

- Are you planning to buy Gears of War 2?

- Did you purchase the original game?

- Are Xbox LIVE matches on Gears of War 2 part of your future agenda?

- What excites you about this game?

May 10th - Gears of War 2: Campaign Gameplay Debut

June 10th - Gears of War 2: Multiplayer Details

- Online matches will partake between teams of five instead of four, totaling the playing field to ten.

- Classic modes are making a comeback (Deathmatch and a revamped version of Assassination)

- Guardian, or the new Assassination, is essentially the same game, but respawns are allotted until your leader dies.

- Meatflag, from what I understand, is a game of capture the flag in which the flag is an AI controlled enemy. Teams must down the 'flag' and grab his body to take him back to their base to win.

- Wingman sounds like it will be of the two versus two variety with each team featuring the same character (i.e. Marcus and Marcus vs. Dom and Dom).

I'm playing the original game right now, well, not RIGHT NOW, but yeah. It's... not as good as people make out, infact it's pretty boring and not very gripping, but it'll do to pass some time as a new game. The concepts and storyline are alright, but the missions in-game aren't very compelling and feel I've achieved nothing. Amazing graphics though.

Playing against people online automatically raises the bar...*just look at Halo's single player vs. its multiplayer*

I enjoyed the game as a whole, but I wasn't very drawn in by the multiplayer. The whole concept of the Gears Universe is what I love.

What was wrong with Halo single player? The storyline was epic...(Played it for PC, not Xbox 3sucky)

Halo is a shitty game. Call of Duty 4 is better.

Halo the original? What are you on about man?

Call of Duty 4 is only decent. I mean, I liked the graphics and the storyline, but it wasn't a revolutionary game. Halo pretty much updated the whole FPS scene, brought it more to the public.

I like Halo for what it is but the story line could have been a lot better in my opinion. The story line for me gets boring but the multi-player is absolutely fantastic. But of course I would love co-op single player. I love Gears of War, definitely more than Halo especially but the comments from the soldiers are fucking hilarious.

Apparently the first game was to raise awareness. It was supposed to work like an extensive advertising campaign, as they had to literally buy Microsoft's support for the sequels. Keeping that in mind, I expect GoW2's story to surpass the original's far and away.

If Gears of War develops amazing story lines introducing interesting characters, I doubt much games could compete with it. It already has great sound effects, graphics, and game play. Story and characters would just make it awesome. I hope so too but only time will tell.

4. I want to see what happens next. GoW1 had a cliff-hanging ending. I want to see how will Marcus get out of this one.

Yeah, plus Halo removed health meters and everyone followed trying to be cool. FPS games without health bars are annoying as hell.
