With the dawn of the Wii fast approaching, and the gaming area lacking this thread, I thought I would go ahead and make it. (I big on Sony or MS, but if someone makes an official topic for them I will gladly pin it ^_^)
To kick things off. Who is planning to get the Wii on launch, if so what extra's are you planning on getting with it (Games, controllers, add-ons)?
I am not to sure if I will be jumping the gun on this, though it would be nice to have a nice new shiney console on release date just for once. Yesterday I saw a sign at EB for pre-order of the Wii for only $300 (Australian) which is hella cheap in my opinion. I have the money, its just a matter of actually wanting to spend that money.
Probably looking at getting Super Smash Bros. Red Steel and two extra controllers (I have never really found the need for a 4th controller) That alone will probably set be back $600 (on the assumption that a game will cost 100 and controllers 50). I also plan to trade in all my shitty Gamecube and PS2 and the Gamecube itself to help bring down the cost (Most of my gamecube games just collect dust and there is no need to own a GC if I have a Wii).

Yeah, I'm the same Spank, I'll be getting Red Steel and Super Smash Brothers Brawl, might get Super Mario Galaxy and Loz:TP as well. I'll keep my GC, since I have two, I'll just give the other one in. >_>

Heh... My bro's already gauranteed that he's getting it at launch. Brawl, Twilight Princess (I'm not so sure about), Metroid Prime 3, and Super Mario Galaxy, he's getting... plus two or three extra controllers. Anything else, I'll probably get with my own money when it comes around.
There are a few games I'd love to get when they come out... like the Marvel, Sonic, and Fire Emblem games. *shrugs*
Ooooooohhh... and the Pokemon game for the Wii. That game... will own. Period.

Sadly, Super Smash Bros Brawl and Super Mario Galaxy are not launch titles but coming out in 2007 spring.
Zelda is a definate buy for launch. Metroid Prime 3, i don't know...maybe. Red Steel i want to get more first. I'm not sure with the Sonic game, maybe.
The Pokemon, i haven't seen much of.

What Fire Emblem games have you played Kei?
I am still not sure wheather or not to add Zelda to the list, having played the series since I was a wee young'un I am not sure I can want to change to the new style. I dont know if I can jump into the game I grew up with without my control pad. I would rather see how the Wii-mote goes first.

Haven't played any FE games... I've wanted to, but never had the money or got around to buying em. *shrugs*
I'm sure the Zelda game will turn out just fine. If not, just get the GC one.
Yes, they did push it from launch, Spank. It won't come out until early Q1 or Q2 2007, I believe.

Super Mario Galaxy was hoping for a launch but Miyamoto thinks it won't be ready in time so he pushed it back to Spring just to be sure.

Fire Emblem is great, I think of it as a playable medivel anime (or something as equally queer sounding). You shall buy it NOW.
Well I guess that I will have to add something else to the list, its been a while since I have checked the list for launch titles (obviously) but I think I wil need more then one game to have a bash on. MPrime3 for launch?

The pokémon game footage was hardly anything impressive, just improved graphics and showing us that they actually hit the pokémon instead of just using a move with some effect and it doing damage.

I also know that Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Brothers Brawl are not launch titles, since Sakurai gives a hint saying "He will not update this site up until sometime in 2007 when the game is complete."
So I heard Cel Link, Ridley and Bowser Jr. were confirmed as new candidates... where's my Rukario? =<

False rumour which was confirmed a rumour. The only new characters which have actually been announced is Meta Knight, Wario, Pit, Zero Suit Samus (Who is not taking up a character slot, but rather a transformation for Samus) and Solid Snake.
Sakurai said, like you have, he will not up date his site until the games near completion. Unless he has some really great news, he won't update the official site until 2007 sometime. So we will not know about any new characters until 2007.
Wiisports i believe is a packaged title. I think it comes with the Wii.

ME! Getting SSBB and the Wii when they come out. That is...if I pass my Junior Cert/GCSE's. After that, I'll get Super Mario galaxy.

Re think your stratedgy. SSBB isn't coming out the same day and won't for a couple of months afterward. If you manage to get a Wii on launch, you'll be left gameless except from Wii Sports and the 100 credit VC voucher you get given.
