Default I'm no sports fan but...

Even though I live in the NYC/NJ area, I was quite happy when the Boston Red Sox won the World Series back in '04. This led to half of my friends hating me for awhile. I just thought that it was a cool event to had been experiencing in my lifetime, especially with their infamous Babe Ruth Curse and all. It's like they had spited the gods.

If you've ever reacted in some way to something that happened in the world of sports, feel free to talk about it here.

Default Re: I'm no sports fan but...

I must say the Red Sox winning the World Series back in 04 was the greatest thing to ever happen in sports in my life time. Growing up a Red Sox fan was always very depressing. Though I wasn't alive to experience the heart breaks that my father did (the 75 World Series, Bucky Dent, and the heart breaking 86 World Series) I myself got to experience my fair share of Red Sox heart break (the biggest being the 03 ALCS). The Red Sox winning the World Series in 04 was a huge weight lifted off the chest of every Red Sox fan. 86 years of heart break was finally over. Year after year Red Sox fans had always said "there's always next year", some (such as my grandmother) had said that for over 70 years. 2004 was "that year" the year that every Red Sox fan had dreamed about their entire lives, the year that the Red Sox had finally became World Series champions.

That would be the moment in sports that made me the happiest.
