I said subject matter didn't matter when determing who's the best lyricist and we're talking about why I didn't like Lifestylez, not about lyrics.

I'm not really a punchline after punchline (from what I remember) man.

Seriously, look at this, lines from two great songs from the same great album
If it wasn't for the subject mather of The Way I am, I don't think you would think the lyrics are so great.

Big L's album is all about lyrics, if you don't consider punchline that great then what do you consider a great lyricist and which criteria is the most important for you?
If you don't like Big L's album it can't be because of his rhymes, it has to be something else. What do you consider the greatest album of all time?

If it wasn't for the subject matter in The Way I Am, I wouldn't consider it a great song, but it would be lyrical. You see, being lyrical isn't the only factor when making a great rap song.

I never said I didn't consider punchlines great, but I'm not necessarily high on punchline exclusive rappers, his album also has generic subject matter typical found on most mainstream albums nowadays, and the beats aren't what you'd call top notch. Haven't I already said this?

Isn't a lyricist a poet? They even call themselves that way and you're telling me it's different? That's the same thing, an emcee is a street poet. he speaks like Shakespear but from a point of view of the streets. That's why the focus so much on wordplay and metaphores, they try to teach something to the listenenr and just transport you in their reality when they spit. That's why I loved Nas back then but I just can't stand him anymore, he was great but now you listen to him and it's just bullshit. 2Pac and Biggie were the amongst the rare ones who constantly released draw dropping albums and always had good lyrics without falling from Illmatic to Nastradamus. You're not the first one I see calling 2Pac overrated by the way and most of those who say this just have listenend to tracks such as 2 of Amerikaz most wanted or Hit'em up.

Just a question like that, what do you think is the best album from 2Pac? Also, which song of Crooked I did you listen too?

Anyway, I have all of Crooked I's mixtapes and "albums". I've been a fan since death row. and... my favorite pac album, personally was probably strictly 4 my niggaz... all eyes on me was pretty cool....and as well as the 7 day theory album

I don't really want to argue, but, if like you said, you appearantly listened to all Crooked I mixtapes which songs are your favourite and, what makes you think he's not leaps and bounds ahead of Mike Shinoda in terms of raw skills. His freestyling abilites are ridiculous, he's really versatile, he's not just a generic gangsta rapper.

Which songs did you like in Strictly 4 my niggaz, All Eyez on me and 7 Days Theory?

Not denying it, Lupe is great, but Eminem in his prime would just murder him. No one said he wasn't good, in fact, he's amongst the best right now, but if you compare him to oldschool Meth or Mos Def, he's just outclassed.
