Default General Music Discussion

Suprised there's no such thread here. Basically somewhere to discussion one's opinions on music as a whole. Instead of having many smaller topics that die quickly, this is meant as a free flowing discussion.

I'll open up with a list of bands/artists of rock that kick ass.

The Beatles
Pink Floyd
Led Zeppelin
Aerosmith
Bad Company
Eric Clapton
Ted Nugent
Bob Dylan
The Wallflowers
Pantera
Metallica
Megadeth
Tom Petty
ZZ Top
Guns N` Roses
Opeth
Nevermore
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Blue Oyster Cult
Disturbed
System of a Down
Van Halen
Jimi Hendrix
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
Etc.

Bold, underlined, and in italics kick so much ass that listening to too much can cause death and subsequent evacuation of one's bowels.

Agreed. He has even something like Nevermore, that I didn't really think anyone else besides me in MFG listens to.

Rep'd.

I have a friend who leaves all sorts of obscure things on CDs in my locker for me.

Nevermore was just my personal favorite.

Also, if you want a good laugh, check out Akinyele's "Put it in your mouth"

Mmm... There's a whole bunch of good bands and some of these mentioned above I consider already as "classics" and I respect them greatly.
However, these days... actually for over more than 2 years now, I've been on Asian music hype.

When I was back in school, I used to think that only morons gives into boybands and other bands which are manager/company-made. But you know what? Now I realize that there's nothing wrong with any kind of music. They simply either suit your taste or don't. So I can have Kanye West, Nirvana and Tohoshinki in one playlist. And I don't care. I just listen to stuff I enjoy.

If I needed music to make me think, I'd throw in Mozart. Right now, music is just something that entertains me.

So I finally found some music from this industrial metal band I sort of like. It's a Finnish band, songs are sung in Finnish. So you wouldn't understand it anyway... more music for me to cherish, and more music for you to wonder "WTF is the song even about?"

Engel pretty much covered everyone I sadly forgot to mention.

I must say, I'm really starting to like The Wallflowers.

Wallflowers... I recognise that name, but can't think of any songs.
For me lately, i've been listening to a bit of blues and jazz:

Coltrane
Dizzy Gillespie
Miles Davis
Clapton/derek and the dominoes/cream
Buddy Guy
Hendrix
Robert Plant and Jimi Page live
Johnny Lang
Muddy Waters
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Early Rolling Stones

That's what dominating my current playlist, plus the samuel L Jackson covers in Black Snake Moan.

Red Hot Chili Peppers, Muse, Arctic Monkeys and Bloc Party. That's all for me (I listen to more bands, but these 4 are my "bold-underlined" ones).
