The guards aren't necessarily a problem, but I like neck-breaking. it's cool, and I feel like a ninja. But I end up Judo-throwing, and I've figured out I can immediately start choking if I get RIGHT behind them, but as soon as I start choking, the alarm starts going off, even if they haven't technically "seen" me.

I was watching one of SpooneyOnes reviews on Youtube and he was talking about MGS4. Now I don't know if this is true, but it came across to me as a little bit arrogant and pretentious.

He claimed that unless you are a MGS trivia master you will HATE MGS4.
Bascially if you've never played ALL previous titles, particulary the main storyline one, and don't study the series outside of playing it. You won't enjoy it, you won't want it blah blah.
Now this is just a game at the end of the day and I find it difficult to believe that you can't enjoy a game unless you've played previous titles. Yes I know the storyline is indepth and loads of things have happened and characters ect but it's a game.
I love Half Life 2 but have never played the originals. And yes this might not be as intricate a game with regards to stories, length and development as the Metal Gear series, but it's just an example.

If you read comments from people under the video, there are plenty of those that had MGS4 as their first game and completely disagreed with his thoughts.
I'm not a fan nor have I played MGS, apart from one game on the PSP I got a lend of a friend. ^_^

Do you people who actually play MGS and are fans think the same?

The storyline might. I saw the ending of 4 on Youtube and it made me want to jump off of a cliff even though I know all the stories.

But that was just because it was intensely dumb.

I'm not a big fan of MGS4's story anyway.

Even though I've only played MGS1, I actually know most of the story for all of the games. =P But I'm still going to play through them all, if I can.

I just don't like how MGS4 is so much more of a shooter than a stealth game. I'm also not as fond of the setting or plot. And the "Old Snake" thing is just retarded. If he was naturally in his 60s, it wouldn't be too bad. But he's not. He's in his goddamn 40s.

I do think that the ending boss fight in MGS4 is awesome, though.

Only the begining bits of MGS4 are much of a shooter. Though most people prefer to stealth through them. The plot is good but it tries to wrap things up at the end a bit too quickly. Admitedly its hasn't got a plot as good as the others and the ending wasn't great. But its still very fun to play and still feels like an MGS game.

Regarding the shooting parts, you may be right. I only watched a few gameplay videos that were around the start of the game.
