I liked Magmar and thought Magby was cute, but Magmars evolution looks like a more bloated ball shape version of Magmar. Not much difference.
Pidgeys evolutions were more or less similiar but it was an original Pokémon and nowadays I think they do it simply to add numbers.

We really just need more detailed and original Pokemon. They're losing focus on quality here and that's what counts.
Magmar is a decent fire Pokemon but I never really used him...always used Charizard or Arcanine (great speed). I also used Rapidash and Nine Tails, the first generation truly had fire Pokemon like no other Generation.

I never cared about stats. They didn't seem to really sway things for me. I did well without. I love Arcannine though, majestic looking Pokémon

I use to find that Pidgey would always end up outdoing my starter Pokémon in terms of leveling and power. Pidgey's evolutions and attacks were fierce.

How do you stack your Pokemon? I sort mine from lowest level to highest level, so the lower levels get exp first, and if they're the same level, by HP. Usually Pidgeot would by my last to level xD I might check my Blue and list the Pokemon I have on there. I always went for the Pokemon I prefered rather than stats too. |

No it's because I used it more and at the top of my party cos it's moves were really good.
For leveling Pokémon up before you get EXP.Share, I usually put the Pokémon at the top and then depending on the Pokémon it's against I might switch automatically to a more powerful Pokémon.

That's why you need patience and keep doing it. You'll see what they can do when they're at a level that they don't KO at instantly.
It depends who you're leveling up. If they're at a really low level and can't do much against slightly stronger pokemon on their own, then the method I uses levels them up pretty quickly. Then they're able to take on battles themselves from start to finish.

My method of speed-levelling is to send the low level out first and then replace it with a stronger Pokemon. That way they get half the Exp, but if it's high enough level it'll still be good.
My first game of Blue used only my Venusaur until I got to Cinnibar. Then I got ass-raped by Fire-types I had to level the whole of my team up from about level 10. |

The difference is I use that technique even if I have Exp Share.

The use of the word "before" gives the impression that you don't use it after you have Exp Share, whereas I do.

No - it just means what I do before I get an exp share =/ Seen as thisis the only good way of levelling up a low level Pokémon without having the get KO'd.
